HABS & SABRES TRADE UPDATES: BUFFALO SHOPPING CASEY MITTELSTADT + JORDAN HARRIS TRADE SOON?

HABS & SABRES TRADE UPDATES: BUFFALO SHOPPING CASEY MITTELSTADT + JORDAN HARRIS TRADE SOON?

So what better way to go out there and kick off the evening’s conversations than with two prospects okay maybe not prospects but two young guys who have always been highly tted prospects in their organizations getting placed onto the market let’s talk today about Montreal Canadian defenseman Jordan

Harris as well as Buffalo Sabers young forward Casey midad because latest updates around the NHL rumor world have put both these guys in trade conversations and I thought it’d be interesting to combine them into one you know they’re kind of two separate ideas but they’re pretty similar so why not

Put them all together in one video starting out with the Montreal conversation because you had yourselves this post made on the rhab sub talking about how Jordan Harris is now included on the sports Net’s trade list included is a screenshot of the recent list published on the website Jordan Harris

Defenseman Montreal Canadians 1. .4 million a year till the end of 2425 the 23-year-old has been in and out of Montreal’s lineup lately with the Canadians Blue Line suddenly overcrowded by the unexpected rise of Jaden strubel and Harris could be out permanently at some point over the coming weeks the

Canadians need to make room for Lane Hudson and moving Harris seems like one of the ways that might happen he has already established his floor as a third pairing defenseman in the league but he still has a ceiling that can push him up and that along pretty nicely with all

The conversations we’ve had about Harris over the past few years he was initially a third round guy by the Canadians in 2018 he was a left-handed defenseman 511 190 pretty standard guy taken by the Canadians in this spot especially out of the high school programs but he

Eventually worked his way up in the Northeastern University husky system was the captain for a year in his senior season and afterwards there was some conversation saying hey hey could the Canadian sign this guy does he actually want to play for the Habs there was always some sort of a commitment

Verbally that we would hear oh yeah he’s happy being a Canadians Prospect etc etc but until the pen was put to the dotted line in this senior season we really had no idea as to whether or not Harris would follow through on his word and to

The surprise of some he actually did he ended off 2122 with one goal in 10 games played and then played most of last year with 17 points in 65 games played this season though Harris is on Pace for about 12 points in 62 games with six

Points in his 30 game marker at the moment and even though he’s been a fine player there certainly was a little bit more that you could say has been accomplished by some of the other players on the team especially on this blue line for Harris he was never really

Supposed to have that top two defenseman ceiling if everything panned out for him you’re probably looking at a top four maybe 18 minutes a night kind of guy who gets get at a Max let’s say 20 25 points on a season even in the NCAA Harris wasn’t really like the highest flying

Point producing defenseman he was more so of just an all-around guy he could make the right decisions he could make good reads he could play well defensively and get some offense once in a while the question though is how far does that project into the future especially when you consider some of the

Other guys on this Canadians blue line that have risen up tremendously Jaden strubel is looking fantastic l Hudson is still in the Canadians Prospect system looking awesome too Kaden ghouly has been a top shutdown guy and you have other names floating around too so with Jordan Harris is he simply the odd man

Out well since we’re on the Reddit let’s go out there and read some comments it makes sense we just have too many young defensemen except for Kaden ghouly Hudson and reinbacher they should all be tradable for the right price then there’s another comment that goes out

There and says hey this guy better not turn into to Ryan mcdna if we trade him which is kind of funny but um yeah maybe some wounds for Montreal Canadian past I would rather trade kovich but it all depends on the returns kovich has definitely been more solid this season

Than Harris and he plays on the right side that’s an understandable point of view but the Habs are loaded on Lefty and Harris is not as comfortable on the right also we’re pretty sure that Lan Hudson stole Harris’s chair before he even got there then there are some

Others saying hey I’d be surprised if he wasn’t Trading at the deadline or if he gets traded on draft day that makes sense as well for some Canadians fans so when it comes to Jordan Harris this is definitely not the guy that I thought would be included in Canadians trade conversations especially

Like if you consider where we were at with this player a few years ago there was always a good profile with Harris and good projectability into the NHL even if he wasn’t a top Point producer there was still a lot of value there so if any other team sees that in this

Young young 23-year-old defenseman then hey I guess we have ourselves a trade we’ll have to wait and see but like Jordan Harris there is yet another young player on the rise who has been included in trade discussions too this was talked on the after the whistle podcast and

What they’re hearing on the show is the fact that the Buffalo Sabers are shopping Casey middlest and looking for a number one goalie now middlest stad is in a pretty tough spot himself 25 years old 61 96 left-handed guy signed to the end of this season making 2.5 mil against the

Cap he’s at a pretty all right year 42 points and 50 games played on Pace for 69 which is a very nice number that would be a career high for the middle stad party and he’s on Pace for 20 goals too which is definitely career- High

Material as well middle stad is a player whom we’ve talked about a lot over the past few years mostly because of the prospect Wars with elas Pon there was a period of time in 2018 when everybody was deting oh who’s the best Prospect in the NHL is it ep40 or is it middlest

Stad and there were a lot of people going out there and saying that it was Casey middlest stad now while leas Pon is a 100o player middlest stad is not that he’s still fine though but when it comes to the Buffalo Sabers you could go out there and understand why there seems

To be a bit of a reaction here from Sabers fans in this conversation this is crazy we invested so much into this 25-year-old about to enter his Prime and have his rights and the return better be massive and it better not be all Futures as for a

Goalie about 7 months too late to make sense trading midad would be somewhat disappointing but we’d also be trading him at his absolute Peak value so I don’t completely hate it we don’t know what sort of contract extension he’d be asking for I think it would also send a

Clear message to the room that Chum time is over and it’s time to win middle stad is a good buddy to a lot of these guys and is the most tradable piece to send the message that this season has been unacceptable that being said if this is

A trade for Picks and Prospects I’d be pissed I assume this would be a trade for a top four defenseman or something along those lines I mean I’m not surprised given that we’ve locked up Dylan cousins at $7.1 million a year which gives very little wiggle room for

Middlestead since we’d end up paying him just as much if not more to play 3C it’s not a done deal yet but the only way they could end up salvaging it is if they try to move mits to the wing in the top six and that’s one of the things as

Well Casey midad has been eligible to play left in the past he’s not only a center after all but when it comes to his overall profile if there simply is not enough room like the Jordan Harris conversation we talked about in Montreal then sometimes you just have to bite the

Bullet and pull the trigger not because the player is bad not because you’re going to be better without the player on your team but because you have to analyze where could this value be allocated elsewhere in the lineup if you trade away middle stad for a top for

Defenseman then that adds extra depth in areas you needed it so for middlestead while while he is a very good player he is coming up on a future RFA negotiation heading into the summer and we don’t know how much money he’s going to be able to get so if you’re the Buffalo

Sabers you have to try to assess your risk here see what other options are there on the table and see what a guy like Casey middlest stad could go for on the market so let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about the Montreal Canadians apparently being in a

Position to shop Jordan Harris as well as the Buffalo Sabers shopping Casey midad do you agree with these ideas do you agree with trading them if so why if not then why not let me your thoughts in the comments section below if you’re a Sabers or a Canadians fan what do you

Think the price should be for these assets of course middlestead is the more valuable of the two but if you’re a Canadians fan what are your thoughts on Jordan Harris that also pequs my interest as well linary thoughts in the comment section below I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye

  1. What do the Sabres want back? Buffalo has the best prospects and 22 years old and younger players, hopefully if they do trade Fats he brings back a top 4 D man who plays tough. I highly doubt they will trade him, why would you not want 3 center all signed cheap, Tage Thompson is 7.1 mill, Cozens 7 million and sign Mittens for 6-6.5. They have Tuch, Skinner, Peterka(way more goals than Rangers 1st overall pick busts), Quinn, Benson, Savioe, Kulich, Rosen etc…I know zero Sabres fans who said he was any good at all his first 4 years, he’s a late bloomer. Leafs fans wish they had 3 centers signed for only 7 mill cap hit each. They could sign Fats and bring in a big time scoring winger

  2. I heard rumours that Adams wants to swap Mittelstadt him with Ducks goalie Gibson. If true he needs to be sacked on the spot. Are you taking your sources also from HFBoards?

  3. Jordan Harris wont get Dealt cuz his ceiling is unkown
Kovacevic and Savard go 1st trade deadline

  4. The Sabres trading Mitts for goalie is a mistake but him another prospect or pick for a top 4 defenseman I won’t be better.

  5. Buffalo needs to strenghten their culture. If I am Kent, I am offering the following package for Middlestad: Savard, winnipeg 1st in 2024, Owen Beck, 2025 2nd round pick and Miller (G prospect). Most of this are futures, but those assets can be used by Buffalo to get something else. Savard would be very good for this group

  6. I could see the Habs letting Harris go. He's a good player, and apparently a nice young man. But he's not one of the "keepers" with so many talented D-men.
