I said it in the game thread but I’ll say it here too: I don’t think I’ve ever felt worse after an OT win.

Blew a 2 goal, third period lead to the worst team in hockey. Just a joke

    ⭐ Mika

    ⭐⭐ Kreids

    ⭐⭐⭐ Kurashev

    Who gets the hat?

  3. Nickistheman22

Anyone else notice Mika not giving two shits about his first goal in like how many games?

  4. Takeaways: A lead is not a time to let up on the gas. It’s time to shut them down. Laffy, Brodz and Kreider showed up. Mika with the OT winner and boy did he need that. Shesty needs to work this out somehow. But I’ll take the win. Back home to Calgary. LGR!

  5. greysfordays

laf is absolutely heating up and I’m really stoked about it

  6. lovefist1

Well giving up a 3-1 lead to win in overtime isn’t ideal, but I’ll take it.

  7. Jay21moose

Love all the Laf can’t finish comments.

We’ve just been noticing them cause of how many opportunities he’s had. He’s going to be a great player, just hope it hits within the next 2 months.

Laviolette messing with the lines in the third period was a mistake and he’ll probably be the first to admit it. I know what he was trying to do and it makes sense because Mika absolutely needs to get going and he’s trying things to make that happen but it really killed all of our momentum and allowed Chicago to hang around and get a few chances that they probably don’t get if we just stick to the normal lines. I don’t think he’ll make that mistake again when we have a precarious lead.

  10. dankeykanng

Big brain Rangers threw the game so Mika could get a nice moment

Unfortunately they broke Igor even more in the process

  11. I kinda feel bad for Igor. it just feels like every game with him in net is always a struggle to get the win. It’s not always on him either including tonight. I still feel like we should keep running with quick for a bit.

  12. greysfordays

so uh we really gotta fucking figure out our power play soon yeah?

  13. Kakko was arguably NYR’s best forward tonight, no reason he shouldn’t be back with 20/93 next game which was one of the best lines in the league at controlling play

if that game doesn’t get Goodrow out of the lineup, then literally nothing will. Guy got absolutely manhandled against the worst team in the NHL, a team that was also missing their best player by a mile. they are not winning in the playoffs with Goodrow on the ice

  14. ridgeraider21

Dogshit game by Gus. I’m almost ready to just have Jones be our 6D and Gus our 7.

  15. feedmekombucha

Are we still dooming or can I get back to my delusional happy Rangers fandom?

  16. Large_Squirrel1446

hilarious! too bad we didn’t lose…would’ve been the best smelling salt for this sleepy ass team

  17. inTikiwetrust

Really hope this team is just taking a Miami Heat ‘turn it on for the playoffs’ approach

  18. ItsHeadbangerG

Almost let that one slip away.

Shesty looked confident in his play tonight, and for the most part his performance reflected it. Anyone looking to blame the third on him need to rewind that tape and take a look at those goals. Foligno casually parked in front of net is far more indicative of defensive failure especially with Gus having his fucking BACK to Foligno. That and a redirect is a shot that any netminder playing the sport would be hard pressed to successfully stop. I still %100 think Quick should get next game with the hot hand, but that’s a good dip-the-toe experience for Shesty.

Finally glad to see Kreider and Mika get on the board, and hopefully it leads to the first line coming back to life, there’s only so much the 2nd line can do in any given game. Brodz looking better by the day as well.

    See you Monday.

  19. Anyawnomous

How is this on Igor? None of those shots were stoppable. A screen, a batted in rebound and a deflection. It’s more on the D than Igor.

  20. Krispyford

That was a little rough, huh? I’m taking the 2 and moving on with my night.

  21. jkman61494

I dunno if I’ve seen someone so clutch in every other realm of hockey on special teams and OT but so drunkenly bad at even strength as Mika. It’s zany

    Grading:

    Offense+pk b
Overall a pretty good job. But for a while the team just flopped around or struggled vs pressure. The saddest thing is teams have found a way to mitigate 99% of our pp, pressure panarin and have 2-3 guys on kreider ready to block in front of the net. We definitely picked up in ot though. Mrazek is a tough sob, he hasn’t allowed over 3 goals in ages.

Defense:c-. Mainly the bottom lines. But finally our defense cracked. Played good for big portions but some times we let 4th line jabronis like nick falino fuck us over for ages. I think it’s just a boys took the night off thing though. Pk was slightly shaky as well, needed igor to step up.

Goaltending:a. Igor finally had “that game”. Yeah he had a lot of easy work for big portions of the game but also had a few high danger chances in rapid succession that weren’t just guys chopping at a glove save within the first 2 mins. Hopefully the lasting injury affects, were all that January and December were.

  23. Typical-Ad-6730

On the bright side it’s 2 points and that’s a game the Rangers would historically lose. Every Ranger team for the last 30 years would lose this game.

  24. RhesusMonkey17

I got nothin’ tonight. No witty comments. No snarky remarks.

I’m goin’ to bed. See ya Monday night. G’night y’all.

  25. kravdangle

Doomers trying to explain how each goal was Igors fault as deflections and bouncy rebounds or screens go in after he has a .950 sv% all game

Doomers trying to explain how every single Kakko point is “lucky”

Doomers crying nonstop the team “isnt good” after 1 poor month (every team ever has one)

  26. SilentSaidd

Igor let nothing through the body which is a good sign. A far post snipe through a screen by his own teammate, a rebound in the crease after that same teammate failed to play the body and then a deflection. Those are goals that say more about the team In front of him rather than Igor

  27. InternationalHunt738

GREAT GAME GREAT TEAM WIN WAY TO GO MIKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Key-Tip-7521

Well, this was a game that I typically would be happy about that they won, but it was a night where I was disappointed/relieved it ended in 2pts. On a night where the Rangers could have had a “cookie night” as what Vally said, but it turned into Instagram Hockey. And that’s tonight’s episode of Rangers Hockey: *Instagram Hockey.* So, IDGAF WHAT THE DOOMERS SAY, I’LL DO my take/review.

1st Period: Not a good start to the period. the goals that Igor gave up in this game were from deflections and screens really. But, I loved the response of this team. First, Laf, who btw was probably the best player on the ice, and is also on fire right now. Dude is playing well. Keep it up. Horse Meat Kreids extended the lead. what a pass from Fox.

2nd Period: This is where in this period, and also the previous period, the Rangers missed out on took full control. Kakko looked good on the line with Brodz and Cuylle, set up the Brodz goal. Dirty area goal. Could there be improvement at center at that line? yes. but that line is working right now.

3rd Period and OT: Unacceptable. Really. This was a period where I usually would like them to control the pace, and possession in the Hawks zone. Team needed to put them away. But they didn’t. Yeah Mika got the GWG. it felt like a relieved/angered goal celly/reaction to the win.

Overall, unacceptable, the pp was awful, but the pk was big. Could have finished them off early. We’re disappointed, Lav, Vally and the entire team is disappointed. But they won. Vally said something about going w/2 goalies in the playoffs. Could it happen w/this team? It could. But one thing at a time. Rangers win. Onto the Flames

Rangers Oppie was disappointed too. But he left a message: “Take in the sheets. Two Points in the bag and all that matter is the two points.”

    Onto the Flames.

God Save the King. Back Afta dis.

  29. DismalChance

    General game play question:

(Not looking to blame just asking what the general best practice is)

On the 2nd goal against. It looked like Fox was a bit slow coming back to cover Foligno (to me at least) after being involved in the play against the boards. Is that accurate to say he should have picked up the pace to cover front of net, or is it on the center (can’t remember who was on at the time) who should have been responsible for covering Foligno in front of the net?

  30. explosivebuttfarts

    Ok, I’ve calmed down.

Don’t want to trade Mika and Kreider anymore. But if we want any chance of going anywhere in the post season, everyone on the team NEEEEEEEEEDS to play a full fucking 60 minutes every night.

  31. kravdangle

NYR twitter is probably worse than NYR facebook at this point. Constant doomer negativity from sad no lives. Nothing is ever good or good enough for some people i mean how miserable can you be

  32. Monfett33

Anyone else super worried about the power play? Yea we are scoring 5V5 now somewhat but with out the powerplay we are kinda cooked

  33. silversappho

I watched every game this season religiously until the All Star break. Been on vacation in New Zealand and haven’t caught the last few, and now they’re winning again.

    It’s me. I’m the problem.
