if he hadn't moved away from the boards at the last second he's not getting semi-boarded I don't think. Gotta roll off that one or take it nearer the boards instead of trying to reverse hit there and losing the battle a few feet off the boards.
Local Capitals boy here. I think Martin was far enough away from the boards that making the hit wasn't intended to be malicious. However I think Laferriere should have known the likelihood of that outcome and probably should have made the judgment call and backed off, rules or otherwise. Just in respect for your opponent's health.
