This is a record Ovi didn’t want…

So oetkin just got a record it’s related to scoring but it’s not the one that every day remains as a twinkle in his eye after tonight’s game Alexander oetkin now has passing Wayne Gretzky the most empty net goals and I mean we talked about this last year there have

Been times where Obie has been reluctant to score those empty Nets but this year he’s got a lot of space to make up and he’s really slow down including tonight in 46 games he has 12 goals a number which is actually infl a bit at least considering his entire season

Performance as he scored in his last four appearances with his 834th goal and 57th empty Netter Alexander oetkin sits 60 goals behind Wayne Gretzky for the all-time record at this point I honestly don’t know whether he’s going to make the record and I don’t think so in fact

Which seems absurd to say given his performance last year he had 42 goals in 73 games last year 50 in 77 the year before that this is tracking to be the worst goalscoring season of his entire career and 38 I just don’t know whether it’s going to get any better I mean the

Same thing happened with Gretzky too he had a real slowdown in scoring nine in his last season 23 25 8 15 11 in the seasons before that going into 1994 he just kind of had some big ones at the front of his career 92 goals in 8182 71

And 8283 87 and 8384 and 73 and 85 like the numbers are ridiculous anyway oie got that empty n because Washington did pitch a shut out tonight against the Boston Bruins Oshi opened the scoring in the second Dylan stro added to the lead early in the third then oie with half a

Minute left Put It Out Of Reach but that’s all for me today I’ll see you guys soon and let me know what you think about ob’s potential passing of the scoring record

Alexander Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky’s Record for Empty Net Goals today and its a record he wasn’t too proud of receiving as he chases Gretzkys record for the all time scoring record.

  1. Eck you didn’t ask Ovi if he wanted this record or not you are just assuming that your entitled opinions are correct like usual. I bet if you asked him he wouldn’t give two craps about it then he would ask who the hell is this Eck guy anyways. Also take more time brushing your dog before he goes outside thing looks like a matted travesty

  2. He will get the record. We already said Ovechkin was done after he got 32 the one season then he had multiple 40 goal seasons after that. I think he still has another 40 goal season in him, he has been scoring lately, just a late start perhaps. Father time is certainly knocking though.

  3. I think Ovi can get at least ten more this year and if in the next two seasons he can be a twenty goal scorer he'll break that record. Only time will tell at this point

  4. Owner Leonsis, GM/Prez MacLellan & Coach Carberry will make sure Ovi hits it, as long as he stays relatively healthy through 2026/27

It would be in the best interests of their franchise for a career Cap player, HOF, to grab that record. They'll be retiring #8 anyway. It'll be wirth
    holding out for that record!

  5. Ovi's probably not going to retire until he gets the record, plus he probably wants to play in the 2026 olympics, that is assuming Russia or ROC plays in it.

  6. Gretzky made goals against standing goalies with barely any pads.

Ovi is scoring against today's goalies.

HUGE HUGE difference. Gretzky wasn't all that great in that regard.

  7. Even if he does beat the record, there's a couple mitigating circumstances that diminish the accomplishment. 1) it took him longer. 2) Number of empty net goals. 3) Gretzky will still own the points record…by far. So to me, it's not as impressive.

  8. gretzky miss only 84 game with injury and lockout total ovi 164 game lockout and covid combine and 50 game injury he will have already pass gretzky whitout that and gretzky score vs very bad goalie ovi score vs alot better goalie

  9. looking at the advanced stats, ovi has had ad abysmal shooting percentage this season, I don't want to say it's just bad luck, but I think a good chunk of it can be attributed to poor luck plus no consistent elite center (backstrom on ltir, kuzy unreliable/mental health program, strome has been good, but he's not the type of elite playmaker ovi is used to having feed him great passes). I still think he gets the record, probably pots thirty next year, high twenties the year after that. hopefully gmbm can get him the elite top 6 talent he's been saying he's been saying he will for like two years know, but still hasn't done shit. this team really should be rebuilding but sacrificing a few years to give back to a guy that has done so much for hockey in dc is a fair trade

  10. Iiiii mean if we’re being honest, he is really close to not being an NHL level caliber Player. Just the truth.

  11. I don't know, I think he is overrated. No defensive prowess at all, terrible +/- stats for the second best goal scorer, terrible goal accuracy for the amount of shots he has. Most of his goals are him standing in his office waiting for a pass.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, and certainly worked very hard to be where he is, i just can't get over that he is one dimensional, a selfish player and a sore loser(The screaming at Samsonov against Boston was not very captain-like). Its hard to imagine how much Washington could have won more if he was a team player.

  12. Hahah Ovie sucks. Lets all laugh at him.
Looks at my own NHL Stats and he has 834 more goals than I do. Oh… crap I suck. (and so do YOU!)
