  1. As bad as goal tending as been, when you give up high danger chances and don’t block shots, any goalie is bound to look human. We don’t have Marty back there lol

  2. Interesting that Carolina is #2 since they seem to stifle offense

Carolina showing that avg goaltending goes a long way

This doesn’t account for the number of chances we give up, it basically is just saying when we give up chances, they’re very high danger, which makes sense given a very young and banged up D core and Lindy’s system which tends to leave the net front open or only protected by a forward when the puck is in the corners

You realize 2/3 of our defense has been injured all year right? Not to mention we let sevo and graves go to make room for the young guys. Defense has 100% been bad this year but we’re getting there. Luke and Simon have been playing amazing this year. They just need experience.

Great, bad D and AHL level goaltending. Ruff’s system exposing our flaws all the time isn’t helping either. Ruff is easy to replace (and should be), but we’re going nowhere without at least an average NHL goalie.

The time for change was December. It’s too late now. Just try to enjoy the 30 games we have left, because it’s a long time to October.

Something to keep in mind that I learned recently: things like shot quality also include shots off the rebound, which are obviously very high danger; something Vitek is very bad at it.

So this isn’t an isolated defenseman stat, it has goalie influence as well.

“I don’t understand what those numbers mean, so I’m going to ignore them! Holtz, you’re benched!!” -Lindy probably

It was pointed out the defense was 9th best prior to Dougies injury… 12th prior to Siegs injury… and 3rd worst since… maybe it has something to do with missing the entire core from last season other than Marino and young mistakes… hmmm

This doesn’t make sense. I thought Carolina was great at defense, even from their forwards

The change is in the works. You have two rookies who will studs in a few years. The teams window just opened.

Our defense is young and or injured. This doesn’t surprise me. However other teams on this list are winning games and we have pretty good offensive stats (so do they) so what is the difference? Is it perhaps leagur worst goaltending? (Which can also surprisingly calculate into danger chances with things like rebounds and dropping the puck behind you in the slot like a fuckin peewee)

  14. Hilarious that 1 and 2 carried a 0-0 into overtime last night.
