  1. no Zegras is a showman with 0 grit and a specialist type player. They could trade Caufield for Zegras 1for1. That is the only move that would make any sense. Habs need leadership, weight and grit, not more snowflakes.

  2. Zegras is flashy, he gets highlights, if you want that than absolutely make a trade. If you want to win, it may be hard to do with him, I don't see him getting it done in the playoffs with his style of play. I could be wrong and would love to be humbled by his play.

  3. If Zegras is willing to move to the wing (the Ducks have plenty of talented, quality young depth at center) then the Ducks should keep him! For one most who don't watch Ducks games regularly know he was working on his two way game with success…until his injury. That and he still has two years on his bridge deal after this season. Plenty of time or him to fill out his two way game while allowing him to just get better with experience. He still has 80 to 90 point per season upside and when the rest of the young players mature to the NHL level he could become a regular top twenty scorer in the NHL. That and he sells a lot of merchandise. Ownership likes that. As a Ducks fan I say keep him! Carlsson, Terry and Zegras on the same line would be absolutely amazing and in time one of the best in hockey.

  4. If the ask was only one first could send either of the ones we got dealing Monahan, we need some extra scoring help and he could be that for us.

  5. I'm a Ducks' fan and can tell you, the Zegras defensive concerns are overblown. In the 21-22 season he was ok, and in this year's limited games he's taken a small step forward. Last year he was bad, but the entire team was historically bad defensively. Also, the character concerns and willingness to do better defensively are not a thing.

He's a difference maker on offense. He creates so much space and time for his linemates.

The only concern I have is his physical play. Guy is small and doesn't like getting hit paired with not being evasive enough to avoid a lot of contact. When he does get hit hard, he can be taken out of his game. He'll want revenge and/or he'll be looking over his shoulder for the rest of the game.

I hope the rumors aren't true about the Ducks being open to trading Zegras.

  6. yes. 100% yes, Drouin is from the habs era where the coaches he was under were notorious for not wanting to deal with developmental players. they never developed his game like MANY rookies from that time and he was stunted in his development, also, the WORST market to be in when you are underachieving. Zegras would do well with the Habs, but I don't think he would top line as a Centre.. he's more of offensive first player like Caufield so wing would be where I see him. it would be exactly the type of piece the Habs need to move past the "rebuild" phase.

  7. The two things the Habs have to make a trade with anyone are a) draft picks and b) lots of young D. The Ducks also have a abundance of young D too, and are looking for the same as the Habs in young talented forwards. As such, the only way for the Habs get Zegras is to trade their draft picks for him. Personally, I would not do it.

  8. If they do they are probably looking for top prospect back like a Johnson/Jiricek, Montreal won't be able include low prospects if it's not Hutson,Reinbacher top guys I see them eying montreals 1st not wpgs and wanting Eiserman type.

Anaheim is already deep prospects they won't take Kapanen,Kidney,Mesar,Beck,Tuch,Struble,Harris,Roy,Engstrom, I don't think they would even want Maillioux when they have Mintyukov,Zellweger,Hinds,Luneau,McTavish,Gaucher,Gauthier,Carlsson,Warren,Perreault,Tracey,Lacombe. Maybe they consider Fowler but they have Dostal.

  9. If Im the Habs GM Hughes, I dont have much interest in yet another project player. Habs have too many holes on their current roster. Gallagher, Armia, Anderson, Dvorak and Pearson are all under-performing and/or bad contracts. Habs also have several highly rated but very young and inexperienced Forwards that need to be given some icetime to determine their value to the team. I do like the fact that Zegras contract 2 years left to have a look-see at what he can do to develop, but for me, Id add a player like Zegras to a more experienced team that isnt close to a lottery team. If the Habs were say on the cusp of being a playoff team with several PRODUCTIVE veterans who could help Zegras develop, then consider that deal. But the Habs are a train-wreck right now and adding Zegras might not help either team. I think the asking price for Zegras will be relatively high and while the habs have lots of assets in prospects and draft picks, I think Hughes will stay the course and only move on a player who seems a little more solid. And, just WHY is Aneheim even considering moving their 9th Overall pick so soon? Bit of a red flag.
