I dunno, in response to the title of the relevant TSN That's Hockey episode, whether the Rielly suspension will force Leafs' GM Treliving to make a trade but even if that GM DOES make a trade, the Leafs need to have a plan as to WHAT trades such team CAN, with the assets they have, make. Of Canadian NHL and NBA teams not currently in playoff spots the Flames and Raptors, from last December onward, have already made trades to try to boost their prospect pools and pivot towards what I'm sure those clubs' front offices will hope for brighter seasons ahead.
It's only five games, which the Leafs might win some of. If they make a trade, it should be because they were going to suspension or not.
Treliving needed to make a notable trade before Klingburg went down and has not done anything. I'd argue it's now not worth making a trade as this team has been a disaster. Adding a rental is not the answer and the leafs don't have a superstar defenceman in the system and they won't while keeping Nylander and Marner.
