Imagine a world where we play that kind of hockey semi consistently
Ah yes, a defensively responsible, decisive win with secondary scoring against one of the hottest teams in the league when we’re missing half our top six and our number 1 D.
Just like we all expected.
That was fun! I don’t see any justification to bringing John Tavares back into the top-6 right now. He hasn’t produced anything in 5v5 for himself or his teammates, is defensively weak, and takes the same real estate on the ice as Bertuzzi.
Why can’t they play defensive like that more often. With a halfway confident defensive game this team would be a cup contender.
Would someone mind posting the lines from last night? I only half got to watch the game.
It’s exactly like the Leafs to play one of their best games of the last few seasons with three of their best players out.
Proof that hard work beats talent
I don’t want to sound like too much of a hater, but is anyone else sick of hearing about Bertuzzi’s slump? I get that droughts happen and players get unlucky. But when you haven’t scored in almost two months, at what point does it just because a skill issue? At what point do we just admit that this player can’t finish?
This game compared to Ottawa I noticed a lot more passes making it to their man rather than getting intercepted. Not sure if Ottawa has a better forecheck or players way better at knocking pucks down or whether the Leafs had a better gameplan for getting the puck up. I still saw too many weak D to D backhands but it didn’t bite us so much this game.
