Locked on Wild POSTCAST: Wild Ride Big Nights to 5-3 Win over Vegas

The Minnesota Wild rode big nights from Joel Eriksson Ek and Matt Boldy to a 5-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights to pick up their 3rd straight win to start the second half. The Wild trailed 1-0 in the first 20 seconds of the game, but responded with Power Play goals from Mats Zuccarello and Joel Eriksson Ek to take a 2-1 lead. After Vegas tied the score at 2-2, the Wild reclaimed the lead on Marco Rossi’s 14th goal of the season. Matt Boldy made it 4-2 with his 18th goal moments later. The Golden Knights cut the lead to 4-3, but Joel Eriksson Ek scored his second goal of the game to cap the scoring. The Wild Penalty Kill stopped the final 4 Vegas Power Plays and Filip Gustavsson stopped 27 of 30 shots for the win. The Wild play Arizona on the road Wednesday for their next game.

  1. Good to see that the cream of the crop play well together imagine that!!! Unfortunately this success is a case of FOOLS GOLD for Hynes. The lack of commitment on playing your best players (prospects vs washed up vets) vs total tank mode is bewildering. Hynes is a Clueless Leader IMO. Convince me I’m wrong, same goes for McLean in Iowa

  2. Hill is so big he covers the entire ice level of the net by going into a butterfly, stopping 97 on the wrap around ( 5 on 3) by playing positional goaltending. The best part of last night is the Wild deserved the W, even with 2 softies given up by Gusty. The Wild were the better team last night. Going around the league I managed to catch parts of the AZ, Seattle, and Calgary losses. Just control your own schedule and let the cards fall as they may as you’re never knocked out until you’re on the canvass with a 10 count. Heading to AZ, they will try to play the physical game as they have so many ex-Wild players that it’s a mini rivalry. It’s interesting how AZ is starting to slide, as they haven’t proved anything yet in an 82 game schedule, kind of expected from that franchise.
Both Mermis and Merrill struggled again last night. Try Hunt / Chisholm for a game as the third pair, why not. Even Chisholm and Goligoski would be accepted. Freddy is so unnoticeable it’s ridiculous and should be sitting. Lastly, where has this PP been all season and who does Vegas add to their roster in March with Eichel out?

  3. It was really nice to see Gus (Wild too) pick up the win, even though he wasn’t at his best. If the Wild played with this much jump every game it’d be awesome!.

  4. I liked how the 3rd line looked, even with foligno out. Having duhaime hartman gaudreau felt like having another energy line but that would still hit as much as when foligno plays

  5. I guarantee Boldy will be right back to being an absolute no-show for weeks on end in a few games.

He’s simply too lazy to keep this up for any extended period.

And wasn’t the second goal against Gus on the PP? With a guy sitting on the back door? Idk how you fault goalies too much for PP goals stuffed in by players without a defender on them. That’s the point of the PP.

I really wish they would keep Rossi up with skaters and scorers.

  6. Hats off to the wild with the big win over the golden Knights but let’s stop and think and be realistic. If the golden Knights would’ve had all six guys back that were on the DL do you think the wild would’ve still won the game? I think it would’ve been a different outlook
