Editorialized the title to make it more concise. Trade isn’t imminent but is being looked at.

    >In addition to Trotz’s remarks, sources indicated to Nashville Hockey Now that the Saros situation is a little more serious than the Predators simply listening to offers, and there’s a chance that Trotz is sincerely considering trading the 28-year-old goalie.

    >His potential change of heart is, in part, because of the massive salary that Saros is likely to command once he’s eligible to sign a contract extension in July. Word is that Saros’ camp is eyeing the seven-year, $59.5 million deal that Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck signed in the offseason as the benchmark for any negotiations.

  2. This shouldn’t shock anybody. He’s a prime trade piece and we need great-to-elite talent. We are not a team that can legitimately compete at the moment and spending that money on Juice without being competitors would be a bit insane, especially since we drafted Askarov. His return could be huge for us.

Considering it was reported that the Devils nearly sent Holtz + for Markstrom, I wouldn’t be opposed to moving Saros especially since the haul would be greater as he’s a tier above marky.

Listen, Juice is absolutely incredible and completely worth 8+ when his contract is up, but eventually their comes a time when you can’t have both Asky and juice on the same team. You would be significantly losing value in your teams overall production that way. Asky has been absolutely insane this season with the ads and although he hasn’t proven himself in the nhl, he has legitimate Vasilevsky upside with his athleticism.

If something along the lines of a Byfield type gets thrown out there, I think you gotta pull the trigger. This team has always lacked offensive superstars, and it looks like Byfield is becoming that.

As sad as it would be to see arguably our most valuable piece leave, it’s a decision that eventually needs to be made, so why not now?

Not saying this couldn’t/isn’t going to happen. But Michael Gallagher pretending to have sources is hilarious. This guy thinks he’s the absolute man. Believes he’s filled to the brim with knowledge while continuously ripping Preds fans on Twitter who don’t agree with his takes. You’re a real pro, Mike! That’ll show ‘em!

Last week he wrote that Colton Sissions and Casey Mittelstadt are similar players. How can anyone who knows the slightest about the NHL and its players read that and expect to take you seriously? Gallagher thinks he’s Adam Vingan, but he’s really just a blogger that’s no different than Chad Minton or some other know nothing Preds “reporter”

  5. I agree w so much of what’s been posted. The team is in the mushy middle, with a world-class goalie and a world-class goalie prospect.

The Preds aren’t within a window of contention, and won’t be unless they get more talented.

I think Poile’s attempts to reload, rather than rebuild has netted out the mushy middle.

NJs front office just saw Saros play an elite game last night (a lesser goalie would’ve given up 7). Goalie is a stated need of NJ, I’d guess it’s whether NJs offer is rich enough for Trotz.

My GUESS, is that it gets done w NJ. I’m sure I’m suffering from recency bias.

Will Askarov take awhile longer, yes. Will he be good, yes. Will I be devastated to see Saros go, yes. All that may be true. But, that doesn’t stop it from being the correct decision.

It’ll hurt to see Juice go. But similar to Duchene, it would be nice to see him on a team that can contend as well. He deserves a cup, he’s absolutely elite. He won’t get it with this team.
