  1. IMO… If the Canucks 'Need' a 10 month off Kessel, over the young talent in Canucks System, they can't be taken seriously as a playoff contender. He won his last Stanley Cup Ring on the bench.

  2. The player/role I think of is that of Tim Hunter in 1994. Hunter was never the scoring threat that Kessel was, and was not even the goon that he was by the time he got to the Canucks. But his veteran leadership and playoff experiences served that young Canucks team well. Remember, the team struggled in 92 and 93 with arguably better talent than the 94 squad, but it was the 94 team that made a run.

If Kessel can bring that intangible "it" to this team, and if he is willing to be basically a spare part for this team (I don't see him being a top six forward at this stage of his career; the third line is playing too well, and Kessel is not really a fourth line grinder), then I am all for it!

  3. Phil Kessel has made sure that Costco hotdogs have remained at $1.50 & for that I hope he gets 150 points as a Canuck and retire as a Canuck.

    Go Canucks Go !!!

  4. The Costco beside GM Place might finally have to raise its hotdog prices to above $1.5 cuz Phill the Thrill will eat up the store's 2-month worth of supplies during the 1st intermission.

  5. Sign him just for the dressing room impact. He seems like he's always grumpy but other players just love the guy.

  6. you guys are pathetic Phil Kessel? you are getting excited. This guys a used up has been that played 4 games in the playoffs last year. IF they sign him its a dumb move. They are give him a try out. He hasnt played for months. Hes not good We shouldnt even care.

  7. top 9? you're not going to break up the 3rd line. that's our best line. So, it's either miller's or pettersson

  8. What is the point of Kessel? This is not a good idea. Too old, too slow, to far removed from the NHL. Would rather take a shot at bolstering the D or a young value F.

  9. If he's in good shape, SIGN HIM. We'll need a ton of depth if we go deep in the playoffs. Phil proved all the doubters wrong and ABSOLUTELY should've won the Conn Smythe his first year/Cup in Pittsburgh. Only reason he didn't was b/c the Toronto press hated him and refused to vote for him.

  10. working out he probably had difficulties putting on his skates. Hes an out of shape veteran that shouldnt even be on the ice. I would give him a plane ticket home.
