The leafs have nobody that the flames could even use. Or draft picks for that matter.
The proposed Flames-Leafs trade is actually not bad. However, word is that Flames ownership do not generally like to retain salaries, and the latest evidence of that is the Markstrom to New Jersey deal not going through because ownership did not want to retain any of Markstrom's salary. Would take a miracle for Leafs to work this to stay under the cap. Even replacing the 3rd round pick with Liljegren instead does not improve things much. Maybe Flames send Hannifin (with extension), Mangiapane (50% retained), and a 1st rounder for Marner, once he agrees to waive his NMC. Flames would have permission to speak with Marner as to what he's looking for on his next contract after next season.
3 players and 3 picks for essentially one guy?…..Um I'd say no, but who knows.
Take out manajpaine and put tanev in take out Robertson and add jarnkrok

Re: Rem Pitlick: I think he and Tyler are cousins. Both were on Habs for a short while a couple of years ago. I agree with you…Remember is a decent player, and I'm surprised he's not finding a more permanent home, but that's the nature of the game, eh!!!

Re: Phil "Oscar Meyer" Kessel: I don't see him landing in Vancouver. There's really no place for him on that team. The top 3 lines are set and Phil is not a 4th liner so I don't think the Canucks will sign him.
-Re: Leafs Flames trade concept: Leafs would get some solid help on "D" and Mangiapani is a solid scorer. Flames would get some good prospects and picks. Good deal for both teams.

So let me get this straight, Calgary pays half of Mangiapane's salary to get rid of him and somehow takes on the Ryan Reaves contract too? I don't even think a video game would take that trade? I'm guessing the Flames could do better than that, especially from a sign and trade.

Flames get very little value in that trade, especially while taking on a cap dump (reaves), retaining 50% for 1.5 years on mang, and hanifin WITH extention. Hanifin by himself would get a bigger return just as a rental imo
I like the trade for Toronto.The main reason I would think,that Calgary would be interested would be to increase their cap space and gain some more picks.I would want Holmberg if I was Calgary as one part of a trade.
Leafs need more defensive help, Tanev instead of Mangiapane with Hanafin.
As a Flames fan, I'd be ok with this trade. I think Robertson is a solid prospect for sure. I'd prefer to only eat some of Hannies contract.

Cheaper option for Toronto would be Lyubushkin from Anaheim if they need a D. Anaheim would take a 3rd
If he 5th was next year's First it gets discussion. 3 unused and marginal bits, of which the best is D a could be a 3rd pair guy, runt winger with little upside and dufus Goon and 2 not good picks plus one real asset for both an allstar level D man signed, and a near prime utility F. Only challenged Tornto fans could think this is possible, Trade that late pick for the 25 1st and chat on!
Toronto is really the only team that benefits from that trade. Calgary will get much better offers with pics that are far more valuable for Hannifin alone. I think Boston may actually pull the trigger finally and if not, I could see him in the New York market
I'd try to go even bigger with this trade. Add in Markstrom and Tanev from Calgary and from Toronto, Cowan, Lilygren and another first in 2026.
That trade is insulting to Calgary.

Lots of quantity but not much quality from the Flames perspective. I don’t see how to can’t do better, especially with an extension in place and 2 salary retentions.
