  1. Kessel is one of my favourite players, so I'm glad to see him play in the NHL again. And possibly finishing off his career with a Canadian team is cool too.

  2. I kinda thought Couturier was already the captain of the Flyers. I mean clearly he wasn't if he was just now named, but why did it take them this long to name him? Wasn't he the obvious choice for years now?

  3. Yes, i watch every one of your videos. No pressure, but you are a part of my daily routine. Love hearing about the entire NHL from your perspective. Thank you. Please keep it up.

  4. I'm with a couple of others on this post, thought Couturier was already the captain. I clearly don't watch many flyers games.

  5. Phil Kessel is an old school hockey player. There was a time when conditioning wasn't seen as a big deal. Goaltending was one thing, where you had guys built like Jack Black. But if you were in prime athletic shape as a hockey player at one time, you were ahead of the curve and the anomaly. Obviously, in the past 20 years, players have been expected to be in peak physical shape, so while Kessel might not be buff like some hockey players, he's obviously been in shape enough to get through a training camp year after year and produce at a relatively high level. Obviously, as you get older, it matters more, but we'll see. He's basically being brought in as a 4th line option unless he somehow revives his career, so I don't think he needs to be the second coming of Pavel Bure in terms of conditioning.

  6. Naming Couturier captain is all well & good but as a NYR fan, I'm wary of PHI b/c of Tortorella. I predicted on this site that if PHI fans were patient, he'd get them to p/o. I have to admit , it happened faster than I thought it would by a year or so. Always said I wished they never fired Tortorella & just like losing M. Sullivan ( ex Asst. Coach ) & now K. Knoblauch from the NYR organization, it just might come back to haunt them somehow.
