They’ve looked like a completely different team since the break. Important games down the drain. Need some of the top players and bottom players to step up.
Nurse and ekholm were not playing well tonight, although i give them both credit for being the only two oilers tonight to actually keep the puck posession over the offensive blue line. Too many chip n chases and pump and dumps tonight. Stu looked really slow to recover and get up after every whistle. That disallowed goal at the end of the 1st really funked him out for the last 2 period…
Controlled offensive zone entry makes the oilers look dangerous. When they chip it in and scramble behind the net its a free turnover and odd man rush 90% of the time.
I think we need some trades. Also bad penalties hurt us. We are more in control with the lead in the beginning of the game than latter. 2-1 is nothing with regards to St. Louis Blues. They have weapons available. Taking stupid penalties hurt. Plus their goaltender was incredible.
This team has zero consistency. They take one break and go from the best team in the league to one of the worst. Hell, they do that from period to period. Until they learn to play 60 minutes, it's going to be the same crap every year
Too many passengers on this ship, don't believe I've seen a 60 minute effort since before the break. The players seem to think that they have already won the cup every time the media mention the Oilers as contenders. And then nothing but half fast efforts until they boys start to get embarrassed, then we see them play hard for a dozen or so games, then back to the half fast efforts. Same thing for years with this core, this team overall just doesn't have the will power/hart to play hard consistently. Stanley Cup teams play with pride consistently but the Oilers without 97 would still be collecting top 5 picks drafting the same types of players year in year out.
Binnington robbed 2 sure goals, the boys played good for the 1st. The second not so much then the 3rd was just awful. Mix that in with all those penalties and you get an L. Forget this game and move on boys.
I didn't watch this game and haven't watched an Oilers game for a long time. I was too frustrated with inconsistent and questionable officiating and not enjoying this so-called entertainment anymore. Lately even the sportsnet highlights have become boring with no-hitting, no fights, no passion. Every year the playoffs look more and more rigged (Anaheim, Colorado and especially the mob-owned Vegas). They push gambling so much now which is completely corrupt and sponsored by organized crime (the house always wins, Vegas was built on it), I've heard viewership has continued to drop and I'm glad for it. There are more interesting and better ways to spend your money and time, Sorry NHL, your blowing it and dying.
Even we lost game mcdived got 3 points I think he is catching up with everyone in standing but why coach changes things when we were good last game why change
No resemblance to a playoff, let alone Stanley Cup contending team. This game reminded me of the Van games that started the snowball roll down the hill. Why did the coach not call a time out when things started going sideways?
9 minors thats 18 minutes shorthanded. So if you cant control yourself enough and take Undisciplined penalties your not even going to come close to winning the Cup. If you cant control yourself enough tripping, hooking, crosscheck, elbow, slashing, roughing then go to the minors. The ONLY time you take a penalty is when the other team has a scoring chance maybe. Completely unacceptable you win as a team and you lose by only thinking about yourself and taking stupid penalties.
How can we inject more into the 3rd and 4th lines? It’s all disappeared since the all-star break! I think Holloway needs to go back to C, switch McLeod and Perry which will balance both lines out and definitely put Holloway back at C and on the 3rd line. McLeods speed will help the 2nd line and give him more confidence playing with Leon and Evander.
We have been here before, and if you sit down somewhere dark and silent then try to remember Grocery Shopping when you first got to Edmonton….you were in a Large Store and you walked through the Veggies and Fruit then past the Deli then went through the Bakery area that was on your right and side, you took a slow left hand turn and began walking up the Meat Aisle…. and you did an Eye-Check to your left as you walked right past your own Destiny,. Memory can be a Funny thing….especially if it is Autodidactic. I could be wrong or I could be right, what if I am right???Why cant everybody remember how and why we got here? Remember the acronym that helped EveryMan connect the first time? Well remember it and review it as you re-watch the gametape to again instill OWNERSHIP….because it applies once again…..dont panic and start renovating anything its simply time for another fresh coat of Paint….give a Man a Fish and feed him for a Day…. final word is this…. dont let anyone blame the Officials instead take ownership of what you all manifested together. KYFSOTI. The bill is in the mail along with all the other ones no one on the Oilers have paid yet, the Oilers are on a 14 day Notice now this Direct Billing thing is just not working out..
Despite Holloway scoring the other night and Perry scoring tonight, the team's been off ever since the addition of the 2 players. When you mess with chemistry sometimes the results speak for themselves. Personally, I've never been in the Holloway camp. Fast, but no discipline or structure to his game. He has no identity as a player. He doesn't even know what kind of player he wants to be. Perry is also going through the same thing as an Oiler. What kind of player does Knoblauch want Perry to be? 2nd line super star or 4th line grinder. When more questions than answers start creeping into your game the compass goes out of wack and you start losing games. Skinner may already be suffering from burn out and we're just starting the tough part of the schedule. Whether those goals were on Skinner or not, games like tonight just throws another log in the fire for Holland to get someone like a Fleury. A goalie that is acquired to play the majority of your games. When Skinner has a game like tonight he knows the #1 starter is not guaranteed until the trade deadline has come and gone. Coffey's scratching his head wondering how the entire D core as a collective is continuing to miss assignments and bringing back their September and Octiber habits. The good news is the D all seem to be moving together and are all on the same page. They either all play well together or they all play like garbage together. Rumours of CeCi or Kulak being moved at the trade deadline probably doesn't help mentally with their game.
Knoblauch and management just refuse to acknowledge that McLeod and Foegele (and their speed) are the only 2 players on the team that can clean up Draisaitl turn over bubble gum machine mess on a nightly basis. It's borderline laughable how Knoblauch keeps putting slow players and rookies on the same line with Draisaitl. Draisaitl causes more turn overs than a Tim Hortons baking team. The only players that should be playing on line 2 with Pizza Boy, delivering the hot and fresh pizza, are Foegele and McLeod.
Credit should be given to Kris Knoblauch for his calm demeanour, providing meaningful directions to his players and pushing for positivity which definitely impacts the Oilers squad in fixing mistakes and encouraging team spirit so that they can collectively play better as a team.
I didn’t have the Blues being a better team than the Oilers on my 2024 checklist, especially watching Neighbours making McDavid look like trash…but here we are.

Sorry Paige, we need Tony back. Just the way the superstitions go. 😛
Great job stay focused on building onto this sudden Success we all see 🇨🇦😁
We are going places 😁🇨🇦
Hope Oilers fans had a convo with the officiating crew in the parking lot. What a joke.
Don't live on every game 😁🇨🇦
Be brave be humble 🇨🇦😁

Too much pk, Leon need speed on one of his wings, Leon look better with foggele and Ryan on his wing since the changes we look slow.

Please for the life of god get a high quality goalie!

Plenty more of those calls to come Chris! There's no money in Edmonton winning.

Coach Knob, Team needs a good bag skate
Too much penalties

Finally thoughtful, insightful media questions thanks to Paige!
The refs were a disgrace… they should be disciplined. Clear bias.

Too few players really care if they lose other than McDavid and it shows.

Too many goals allowed by Oilers in too many games))😂😂
And every goal scored against the Oilers has the first and last name of an Oilers player.😝😝
Credit should be given to Kris Knoblauch for his calm demeanour, providing meaningful directions to his players and pushing for positivity which definitely impacts the Oilers squad in fixing mistakes and encouraging team spirit so that they can collectively play better as a team.
Another loss is good . Now find out what to fix. There are a lot of games left to hone down the game. Let's Go Oiler's
