All Star game should be after the cup finals. Not in the middle of the season when teams battle it out for a wild card spot and streaks are lost.
keep up the great work guys…please like this podcast
Sorry to hear about the pup. Losing a pet is losing a family member, and a piece of your soul goes with you when they're gone.
On the All Star Weekend stuff, I definitely understand the league wants its selected players to appear, but I also wonder if the league truly understands the impact of having something like this take place right when the playoff race is starting to heat up. Perhaps a better idea for something like this would be to have it during the offseason/after the Cup is awarded. With that said though, I hope DeBrincat had fun.
You could tell they all practiced the skills competition. It would be so much better if they went in blind.
Sorry for your loss Evan, I named my Shepherd after a hockey player too. His name is Koivu, not a wing but I liked the name. I think we may need to move a prospect or pick to move a contract like Holl. I would really like to see Johansson get a chance to play, I believe we would become more sound defensively immediately. Holl really scares me when he has the puck!
Its frustrating to watch some of the players in the AHL not being given a chance such as Berggren and Edvinsson with so many older players taking up slots.
question – is this a case of talent mismanagement?
There is one major problem with picking up a defenseman, where does he fit? We already have 7 on the active roster, and Petry has a no move clause and cant be waived. Petry has been playing better of late. Maybe someone foolish will take Holl in a trade. He has been a bust so far, being a consistent 7th d-man. I criticized Yzerman when he signed so many d-man, locking out Edvinson. Its feeling a little Hollandish, where vets r getting priority over ready to play youngsters.
Condolences on your loss Evan. Dedicate the season to your pup. He will bring us luck.
Sorry about your loss Evan. The photo reminded me of our pup we had to put down last year. So heartbreaking.
I agree the All-Star game needs to be canned. Colossal waste of time. Actually I think Kasper and Cossa could be prospects who could help Wings land a decent NHL player (a non-rental, hopefully). It should be interesting, though.
All-Star games in all of the big four leagues have deteriorated to the point of being must-skip TV.
DeBrincat had a great all-star games but you know they gave Matthews the MVP because it was in Toronto. I am hoping this spurs Alex on for the rest of the season.
MVP Alex Lyon, if he played in more games the Wings may have at least 10 more points in the standings. Unsung Ben Chariot plays hard minutes, kills penalties, takes and gives it out and the other team knows it. Chariot can play all the ice time for Holl & Petry, these two traded or in press box. Yes, I know Petry has a no waive/trade clause. Pair Ghost (he has improved in Jan) with Chariot. Trade for Noah Hanifin age 27, 25 pts, +10, headed for career year and pair him with Simon E. Olli is the 7th D-man. Trade for Tyler B +6 as he has chemistry with Larkin and can work the boards, crash the net and add being a distractor/agitator and protection for Larkin. Look how he played for Boston in the playoffs. I understand, maybe both parties can't make this work. Or maybe as some people suggest bring up the prospects so we can not make the playoffs and get a high draft pick. That works so well for the Wings last year! I guess Detroit in a Wild Card position is not a result of good planning???
Interesting show.
Larkin is now the true #1 C that many have been saying he wasn't over the last couple of years. He's a good captain.
Unsung hero would be Sprong – he goes 100% all the time, has speed, skill, excellent shot. Bring this guy back next year.
If a trade were to happen, I'd like Steve to package players for someone big.
Shout out to Simon Edvinsson for his 1st career fight, he used his size and strength well. I'm sure i read a few years back that he's had MMA training. Love this kid.
They needa bring back the classic East vs West All Stars format. You know, like the three 20min Periods of 5 v 5 that we can actually call a "hockey game" instead of this clown show on skates lol.
I'm thinking we move a fourth-liner to make room for Berggren and Holl or Chiarot to move in Edvinsson and another high-end defender we trade for. Reimer can be a solid deal sweetener or another minor piece trade.
