In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the Caps most recent game against the Montreal Canadiens. It was a back and forth game and the Capitals did something Saturday night that they haven’t done a lot of this year, and that’s getting on the board first. Mantha got the scoring going for the Caps with his get this 17th goal of the season. He also got 28th point. His highest since joining the Caps. Protas scored his first goal in 29 games and the significance of it was when he scored it. It was a multi point game for Protas. The Protas McMichael and Mantha line continue to dominate playing a big role on the forecheck. Alex Ovechkin also assisted on Oshie’s goal, extending his point streak to eight games. His goal streak did end, though, at seven games. Kuemper gave up some big goals but some were due to him being screened . He saved 28 of 31

They still not making the playoffs

No, we’re probably not making the playoffs, but I never had hope for that since moves made before season. But stay positive! No one needs a drop in negative comment, we love our guys no matter what!

This game was super exciting to watch! While technically it isn’t impossible to make the playoffs, I feel it would be better to just stay(unfortunately) in the losing column. If the season ended today we have ourselves another top ten pick, and if the Caps want another dynasty per say, with consecutive playoff contention seasons we need to start racking up elite talent. The return for Osh, Dowd, and others are going to be higher right now and we should really continue building a tough team for our future such as how we already have MCM, Protas, Sandin, Bear, Miro, and Leonard (he’s on fire)!
