Overtime lineup should've been Sid, Rust and EK. If there was a case for Sullivan to be terminated was last night.

– he’s one of the best coaches in the league – Sid Geno or Tanger aren’t gonna get the awesome new coach bump wins passed mid season – what’s important tonight is we finally got some depth scoring & 4 goals without someone named Sidney Patrick Crosby or his 1st line being on the scoresheet whatsoever
this city has been spoiled the last 15 or so years … everyone is all about Steelers always … worst QB stats of the whole NFL I think & they made a round miraculously-but at least PENS have performed miracles … & we still have those miracle guys !!! Goddamn there’s still like 30 games left … Edmonton didn’t even tie OUR record for consecutive wins … they got less depth than we do in my opinion … but one thing I know is … DONT EVER BET AGAINST SIDNEY P. CROSBY – I’ve probz commented that a few times – you just can’t ever count him out – & that’s probz what DUBAS is thinking

Glad to see pusti get another goal. Hopefully he builds momentum and continues to play well. Guys like him and doc can (doc is provimg it this year in his first full nhl season) be value signing. The problem is when they contribute like they did last night and players like malkin, smith, rak ect dont, even though thats what their paid for.
Metrics and stats aren't important…unless you're trying to prove a case to support an opinion, and then it's "look at the numbers!" It's why I can't get behind your opinions much. While I agree Puustinen is looking good, and they should give him more time and opportunities, don't flip flop only when it better suits your argument.
Our passing is so sloppy for how much we pass the puck on the PP. we commit way to many turnovers off passing and when we do connect it seems it never stays on the stick. The puck is allergic to our sticks.
Sullivan needing replaced has nothing to do with the team quitting on him. Sometimes change for changes sake can be a real and positive thing. It is funny how you rush to his defense, and then question all the things he does like burying youth, having Doug Flutie's smaller little AHL brother out on the PP, putting Smith out there to start the OT even though he was banished to the 3rd line, and questioning Carters increased ice time. But hey, they haven't quit on him. Maybe that says more about the team than the coach.
If Kyle Dubas decides to sell off some assets, Puustinen is one guy they need to play more of especially if someone like Smith gets dealt. He brings a lot of energy and I think is someone who could benefit from an increased role. I am curious to hear what Kyle Dubas has to say in his presser this afternoon.
It's so condemning of any hope that they'll get any better this season, when they go a whole PP without a single shot on goal, and as soon as it expires the Isles go the other way and score. Even if they won that game, It would have felt just as uninspiring.
There were so many times last night where guys had nothing in between them and the goalie, and instead of putting it on net, they tried to make a fancy pass instead to an area, where a player was covered by at least two islanders. They need a shoot first to mentality and they don’t have it. Not to mention how spread out they were on the PowerPlay. They need to find a guy like Horny used to be and get him in front of the net
Hey can we just admit that it seems every game that answer is that the other goaltender has had a fantastic game? Why is it that every goaltender no matter if they're one of the worst that the other team has just plays phenomenal against the pens? Is it something that the penguins are doing to not put pressure on the goaltenders?
Csn the rhetoric that Sullivan is a good coach please stop? The decisions he makes and how this team plays makes it very clear he isnt.

All this Puustinen talk is irrelevant. As soon as they get those bottom 6 forwards healthy he’ll be buried back in Wilks. Sullivan as usual will be forced to play since he had a strong game, but he’ll always choose guys that he thinks are better defensively and sacrifice the offense in hopes that Sid’s line will get it done. This Phillips character getting moved up the lineup is perhaps one of the most egregious things I’ve seen Sullivan make since arriving. Can we start the countdown on many more games Carter will soil a Pens jersey please?

The time for only worrying about process was earlier this season and at this point the outcome is the ONLY thing that matters.
Sullivan needs to go. Dubas better announce his firing today. The defense he gets from the Pittsburgh media is embarrassing. He’d be fired after six years of failure and two years of missing the playoffs by every other team in the league already

There no scoring, no consistent secondary scoring, hell there no second line scoring. There more then a trade away. They have to go on a big run to get into the playoffs. I don't see it at ALLLLL
I think the Matthew Phillips experiment last night was the last straw for me in supporting this coaching staff. The fact that they would play this guy who obviously lacks the size, skills, and composure for NHL play says to me that they are completely and utterly out of productive coaching ideas. This is the point where you fire the coaching staff. It’s time.
Watching Phillips on Genos line and Carter getting more ice time than Puusty is just absurd
Puust is the only dude on the Pens that I;ve seen being able to take that slapper/one timer from the Ovetchkin spot. It's a good one. Unless that is no longer utilized around the league why is he not out there at least for that and his energy? He seems responsible enough on D. Dude's got skills and is young and can get better..I dont think most of the old goats on the Pens are getting any better. I think the big problem is not w. the forwards, it's that the D is mostly horrible.
Isn't Dubas holding a press conference today? This is the only thing interesting about the Pens this week. Everyone is ready for some changes. I know Malkin has a no trade clause…but does anyone think he can be persuaded to wave it? SId obvioulsy stays unless he wants to go of course. Letang is a keeper again unless he wants to go. DOC is cool. Petterson should stay. I honestly think everyone else can go and it would be more interesting to get a lot of new young players.
