We UMass fans – students, alums – are thrilled. Most of us grew up in hockey-mad towns in Eastern Massachusetts. But this UMass team was cosmopolitan. Indeed, UMass lies in the culturally distinct Western Mass region. Anyway, as St. Cloud represents The State of Hockey, UMass still represents The Commonwealth of Hockey. Hats off to St. Cloud and all who are part of the wonderful Minnesota hockey culture.
UMass wins without a single player from Massachusetts on their team. Ha ha ha. An imported trophy. Enjoy.

That U-Mass team is certainly one of the greatest team in the History of College Hockey, I mean I was really impressed that their skill level. The Frozen Four is the most underrated event in USA.

Yes, I'm a UMass fan and, yes, I enjoyed the result. What was not enjoyable, however, was the network coverage. The announcers were so full of themselves that they forgot why they were there; to call the game. Apparently, they were unprepared as many of the players' names went unmentioned even as they played their hearts out on the ice. We heard inside jokes, recollections of their own college experiences years ago, and lots of laughter and banter instead of play by play. It is easy to see now why Barry Melrose is at the end of his career. Those announcers should be ashamed of this farce. I feel bad for the players and parents who surely deserved better. Imagine the disappointment of those who thought they had a marvelous recording of the game to keep forever.
We live in Boston and have a BU, NU, BC, NH ,Harvard, Quinnipiac and a UMASS alum (our youngest) all in the same family….
Tonight we all rooted for UMASS. Go HE and New England Hockey.
