GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Canadiens (02.22.24) | Letang Scores Two

The Penguins played their third game in five days, this time facing off against the Montreal Canadiens. Halfway through the 1st, Mike Matheson intercepted a breakout pass and made the Penguins pay. Matheson took advantage of the open space in front of him and scored. Shortly after, the Penguins responded with a goal of their own. Evgeni Malkin gathered the loose puck on the goal line and moved it high in the zone to Kris Letang on the Point. Letang shot the puck, with Drew O’Connor screening in front, and his perfectly placed shot found the bottom corner of the net. Building on their goal, the Penguins scored two unanswered goals in the 2nd. Bryan Rust scored on a tip-in shot from Erik Karlsson only six seconds into the power-play. Following right after, O’Connor fired a laser beam at the top shelf of the net. The Penguins held a 3-1 lead at the end of the 2nd. The final goal of the game was a 200ft shot into an empty net by Letang to get his second of the night. The Penguins won 4-1, sweeping the season series against the Canadiens.

  1. I want nothing more than to see these guys go on a run. They have the talent, I don't care what anyone says, maybe they aren't elite cup contenders but that dont matter. Playoff hockey is a whole seperate animal, just get in the bracket boys, and anything can happen

  2. Great game! 😆
More organized offence, patience and confidence, not just rely on Sid, which leads to less turnover. 👍

  3. We lost lots of points because of Letang's stupid turnovers. I did not say he is bad. But he should be careful.

  4. Having made my last comment, we need net front presence. Want to make a trade for someone, find a guy willing to go to the front of the net and battle! Easy to make saves when you can see the puck from the stick all the way to net. Evidence..Letang’s first goal..thats not in the back of the net without blocking the goalie’s vision.
