What a stinker! Trade Petterson!
There is a strong rumour that has been reported: the Canucks have offered Greedy Peteys’ camp an x8 year at 12 million a season deal
We haven't won a game since Dakota Joshua got hurt. The 3rd line is our Lifeline.
There seems to be a lot of young-amateur or unknowledgeable fans around on podcasts these days. My guess is none of them are old enough to remember ‘94 or previous. Even in 2011 the Canucks had losing streaks, so it’s not a big deal, and all good teams go through them. So I’m not sure why people are surprised and overreacting. Again that’s amateur-hour in Canuckland. This year, Boston, Colorado, Las Vegas, New York, Toronto and obviously Edmonton have all had losing streaks and it’s actually a normal thing. Last year Boston had a crackin record year and got bounced in the first. We need to avoid that at all costs, so in my perspective it is better to expose this now instead of the playoffs. The Canucks will be fine. Their power play will be fine. Think of it like this, every wild card team, team on the bubble and teams currently seeded for the playoffs are going to give the Canucks their best game because they are the benchmark. So would you really want us playing our best playoff game to compete with them now in February. Of course not, it’s a brutally long season and playoffs, so this is a proper time for load management – not over exert and risk injury or fatigue now…instead make sure you get into the playoffs and commit 100% then…let these teams wear themselves out trying to just make the playoffs then pick them apart then when it really matters.
When it comes to trading Petey, it’s gotta be one of the dumbest thoughts out there right now. Truly not thought out at all. IF they were to even entertain that then you have think about the repercussions to that. It means bring in the dark ages again. It means a complete rebuild. Demko won’t sign an extension and neither will Hughes. It would be take another 7 years to get back to where we currently are…and you’ll never draft another Pettersson or Hughes for decades as they are an extremely rare commodity. If they lose Petey this franchise goes under big time. We are talking about a massive market share loss. From solely a business perspective it’s not an option. I believe the pressure is back on management to get another piece(s) and push everything in. Ownership knows what it has and will make sure it doesn’t slip away. If the boys want Tanev, get them Tanev. I couldn’t care less about a draft pick if it means keeping the core happy and together long term. To reiterate, I’d way rather have the likes of Petey, Hughes and Demko than a bunch of draft picks. By the way, do you think any player on the roster cares about a draft pick, what about the coaching staff. It’s a hard no. They have given us the best hockey in over a decade and for me even longer than that. I believe ownership and management will be active shortly, so get ready Vancouver..
