  1. Cmon offering multi crap picks like 3rd & 5th is ridiculous. 1st for a 50% Tanev & call it a day. Get your player & stop over-analysing everything. Leafs window isnt widening, its slowly closing. The cycle of cap life.

  2. 100% agree with you (we don't need to sell our future for Hannifin)…what the Leafs NEED to do and what they WILL do are 2 completely different things.

We NEED to restructure this team! It's beyond ridiculous that we keep dumping ALL of the team's cap into 4 forwards (3 of them who bring the same style of play, same points production, and same lack of playoff hockey ability)… It's upsetting how many people can be smacked across the head with the same repeated lesson for the past 6-yrs…this…core…doesn't…work!!!

Not one NHL team has won the Stanley Cup in the past 10yrs with a salary cap structure like the Leafs (Chicago comes close, but at least SOME of their high-end cap space was used on team defense & a goalie!). For that matter, not one team has won the cup in the past 5-yrs with ANY forward making more than 10-million (if I'm not mistaken)…and we've got FOUR of them (technically 3, soon to be 4)! But hey, TML fans keep singing their praises and buying the merch so why stop? Leafs' management doesn't want you to worry about the playoffs…just sit back and enjoy the best group of regular season, individual achieving, hockey players the Leafs have ever had!

But I digress and I'll now wait for the hyena pack of ''TML fans'' who think that because Matthews is an insanely good regular season goal scorer…and because Marner racks up an insanely high amount of regular season points…and because Nylander isn't the worst defensive forward on the team anymore…that somehow this means we're a dream team headed for a cup run.

…We NEED a team that has a strong team defensive core, a reliable first-string goalie, and better overall balance….what WILL happen is either nothing at all, or we'll end up selling the best parts of our future for an overpriced, one-dimensional, rental player that doesn't perform in the playoffs, but has incredible regular season stats…. Go Leafs Go.

  3. Just get Parayko 6'6 230 smooth skating top 4 RD who can play mean. He's played with Reilly before and has a Cup under his belt. St Louis would love to clear up cap space. And I get it the contract is not ideal , but giving up a 1st and good prospect not named Cowan or Minten you might get them to retain salary at say 25%..

    To Toronto
    Colton Parayko (25% retained)
    Alexsey Toropchenko

    To St. Louis
    Calls Jarnkrok
    Connor Timmins
    topi Niemela
    2024 1st
    2024 4 rd

    Knies – Mathews- Marner
    Bertuzzi- Domi- Nylander
    McMann- Tavaraes- Robertson
    Holmber- Kampf – Toropchenko
    Gregor
    Reives

    Reilly – Parayko
    McCabe – Benoit
    Brodie – Lilijgren
    Giordano

    Samsonov
    Woll

  4. The Leafs can't resign anyone. They have $65 million dedicated to 13 players next year. They need to sign another ten guys for 20 million.
Adam Larsson. He's Seattle's #2 defenseman on a very good defensive team. What $4 million in salary are you giving up to trade for Adam Larsson and what quality are you giving up to trade for a defenseman who has played 23 minutes a night for them and has played in all 56 of their games. What exactly are you giving up so Seattle would be motivated to make this deal.
Seattle is three points out of a playoff spot. What are you giving up for their first pair veteran defenseman and how do you make the cap fit? Domi and Liljegren and a second?

  5. Dumba and Zucker for Robertson a 3rd 4th 5th 6th and 7th in the 2024 draft. Now is the time Toronto put your cards on the table in 24. 🪕

  6. I wouldn't mortgage the future on UFA Tanev this spring when the Leafs can sign the Markham native next Summer without giving away any prospects or (God FORBID) a #1 Draft Choice. No way Jose!

  7. Don't worry , Calgary has no interest in dealing with Treviling ,unless it's a overpay. And player's don't want to play in Toronto either.

  8. I love that Treliving doesn't cave in to inflated asking prices. Dubas would have already emptied the cupboards for a couple of rentals.

  9. Team chemistry is continually destroyed by micro managers acting like chess masters. If you feel you are losing because your players won’t die on the hill for their teammates… then concentrate on your team and show your loyalty to the players 5:26 . You win if you own the space between the ears. Remember team USA 1980.

  10. Tanev is what 34 ?? Thats a huge L if we even get him for 2mill let alone 4 or 4.5M…

The NHL average age is like 24…. I'm 28 and I feel old as ahit now…. (bones and muscles)

Noah Hanifen will also NOT sign with another Canadian team…. he doesn't like the taxes (nor should he) and his family is American… he wants the warmth

  11. We need to be careful, Tanev is not worth a 1st unless he is willing to resign a 2/3 year term at a reasonable and tradable contract. The future contracts of JT and Marner need to play into this since that rediculous Nylander contract hamstrings us and has used up the cap increase for next year. I am not opposed to a deal for making the team better, just have it makes sense without crippling us more down the road. Would love to see Tanev or some sort of upgrade on the back end. We are currently playing well but I am not convinced yet that we are ranked #1 cup champs. GO LEAFS!!!

  12. Flames fan here. Treliving was notorious for bargain bin shopping in trades. He lost out on Mark Stone because he didn't include Valimaki in the deal. No chance he goes all in. He probably should with Auston Matthews having record season though.

  13. Although a RHS defenseman is an ok trade, anything less than a great goaltender, the Leafs are waisting picks and future talent. You can not win a cup on ok gaoltending.

  14. I went from saying the Leafs should stand pat because this team doesn't deserve it and they are going nowhere

    to

the Leafs should stand pat because this group is really starting to come together, and it looks like they found the answer from within…

either way, the Leafs should stand pat.

  15. Leafs are likely to finish in top 10-12 of the league. All scouting reports out there suggest that this is a thin draft year in terms of quality of depth. A first round 2024 pick for a team picking after 20th shouldn't be a non starter. I think the hesitation is because they don't have a second round pick and a new GM wants to make a meaningful pick…

  16. Moove Morgan Riley to forward and trade deadline trade reeves and ride it out this year's draft is deep.know body is expecting anything until you build a statue to Ballard his curse is on the leafs

  17. Darius get better at this game! Themugnhl statement Per, Elliote Friedman, Joseph Zita post as per Pierre LeBrun. You are out trying to report on reports that have already been degraded to rumors. IE As per Elliote Friedman or Pierre Lebrun being your own statement not that of a middle man. Verify the info as deep as you can get to not as shallow as you can find it.
There are very few people in this game that can make statements that can be called reports. If they are out there making statements why would you be going fishing for those statements from 3rd parties and beyond.

  18. Unless they find a way to bring in better goaltending and an actual topline D, or 3, they don't stand a chance in the playoffs. They're pushovers, just a warmup for whoever gets them in the first round. You can hit whomever you want on Toronto and you don't have to worry about anything, no backbone teams like that always fold come playoff time. Throw in their best goalie is barely a #2 on most other teams and its a recipe for disaster. I used to feel sorry for Leaf fans, until i lived in Toronto for 2 years and realized most of them there don't have a clue. Now i just laugh at them.

  19. This is the one year that Tree should keep his powder dry & not piss away assets for aging rental players, especially if it involves Toronto's top prospects like Cowan or Minten. Sometimes the best move is making no move. As they say, 'go home from the dance with who brung ya'. Next spring is when to make moves predicated on where they are at that time. Cowan will be a top six NHLer imo & sooner than later, so DO NOT TRADE HIM, or you'll regret it for the next 15+ years. That guy is wired the right way & they're hard to find.

  20. You went from "Leafs after going all in" to "a notable insider is speculating…". You and your kind can go kick rocks. Quit wasting people's time with your bs!

  21. If you can’t get a guy with term or able to resign then do not trade for the player I don’t care how good he is it hasn’t worked for the last decade why would it work now?

  22. Dont get fooled. They need another guy who can put the puck in the net. Can’t rely on these 3rd and 4th line guys continuing to score in the playoffs. Proven goal scorer top need. Waste of picks, propects and money to bring in some average defenseman. They were 5-0 without Riley in the lineup. Dont need defense.

  23. Ok, I am gonna say it right now: With the current goaltending trio Toronto will get destroyed in the first round.

Are you guys really confident in making a push for the Stanley Cup with Woll – Samsonov – Jones in net? Is this some sort of inside joke that only people from the Toronto area understand? Or are yall just coping you can outscore your opposition on the other end?

Yes, they totally need a solid RHD. Yes, Samsonov has had a couple of quality starts. Maybe even really high quality starts. But come on, you can not be this naive… Especially since there is no guarantee that Woll will be in peak shape come playoffs. I would feel much safer about the leafs if they aquired a competent goaltender who can deliver from the get go. Somebody like Joey Daccord. Or Ingram. Or Blackwood.

  24. Skip any deals this year, too many questions in the lineup and you can't fix them all. Save assests for another year and hope your current streak and chemistry continue into the playoffs with some younger guys getting the experience.
