Plus, as a bubble team they’re on the outside looking in
Centers-
Shane Wright, Benier, plus any of Gourde , McCann and Schwartz and this kid can’t even knock Yamamoto off the 4th line
Scouting report -https://www.capfriendly.com/scouting-reports/players/tye-kartye
We need some bottom 6 help and our current pipeline is a lot thinner since ’23.
UFAs like Bjugstad, Eller and more get thrown around.
However , with our playoff contention murky id rather we get someone with term who could be a roster player for longer.
Kartye is a low risk move for sure but not one that should really cost us anything significant.
One of the most physical players currently on Seattle and skates hard with a finishing touch (young Lazar?)
As an rfa next year, were he to belong on the team – the cap hit is substantially favorable.
At the very least, we’d have an extra skater for playoffs – which we don’t
For reference, I would gladly trade the 4th rounder we just acquired. 2026 too far away

Why would Seattle trade of all their forwards, Kartye who is on his ELC and is under team control for at least another 4 seasons after this? And why would they do so for a nothing 4th round pick? Literally makes zero sense for them and there’s no incentive for them with what you’re offering, you’d get hung up on. Also Schwartz is a winger and has never played centre in the NHL in his 12+ seasons in the NHL.
I have no idea who this is. I guess i should watch more hockey outside of devils
I agree we do need more lower end center depth, guys like Justin Dowling aren’t gonna cut it. I do think we need someone with a little more experience than Kartye though. The team should also be careful if they go the UFA route. On the other hand, you don’t want someone too old and/or making too much money for that role
I know Tye well and would love for him to join the Devils!
Tye Kartye is to good to be acquired for a fourth round pick. He’s got a lot of potential.
Give me Bjugstad for cheap
they need to end the jack is a center experiment and find another 2 center . because a 1 center will be harder and cost more . everyone who doesn’t understand what system that’s being run needs to understand it’s to help jack be offensive . to transitition to offense . the system they used for a minute there everybody played it well . because it’s a more normal system that has the center playing defense . by getting a two it will slot haula/lazar where they would help the team the most . then you could put jack on nico’s wing with meier and slot everybody else …
jack/nico/timo
bratt/new center/ mercer
palat/haula/toffoli or holtz
foote/lazar/nate …
then you can flip flop wings …
general question why does jack not work on nico’s wing when you can have that top line ?
trade toffoli to vegas for logan thompson plus jakub demek . add schmid/clarke or ? to get her done . fills the goalie need with a young guy , 26 ,who has stanley cup experience and is pretty good .demek is 20 and up and coming . with decent size , 6’4 and 210 … both guys in the target age who can grow with team …
