To all the haters, this guy just broke the record for most wins in a row for an Oilers goalie. That's insane if you ask me. He's our future without question.
You don't see Skinner get defensive too often with the questions. Fair enough. He has a right to defend himself. No doubt he's feeling heat trying to stay out of the basement again. Bottom line is this is the Edmonton Oilers. Stu may be a #1 starter in San Jose or Chicago, but you simply can't put all your chips on a guy who finds a way to throw his game into the garbage for 20 games and then emerges as one of the top goalies in the league for a considerable healthy stretch, even breaking records in the process, and then finding ways to go back into basement. That's not a #1 playoff goalie. This guy is still learning. He was even defensive about the question regarding his experience. He's definitely feeling the heat. He's probably even baffled himslef how his year has been such an anamoly. Demko, Hellebuck and only a few others are defined as true playoff ready #1 starting goaltenders. The Oilers have been a development and training camp for Stu. Stu is an incredible guy, but Holland is kidding himself if he thinks Stu is ready to win a Stanley Cup.
Skinner needs huge improvement on face-to- face shots 20-30 feet away left and right, no matter up or down low. He always get beaten last year and this year. He isn’t winning if he doesn’t improve this flaw quick. He is grade B goalie at this time, not a true elite starting goalie yet.
There was 1 or 2 goals last night that were questionable on his part. Definitely the short-side goal by Marchand and maybe also the weak poke check game winner. The rest were either screened or deflected.
Stus lateral movement is horrible. He overplays his cross net defense and usually winds up out of place. Every save, he is falling forward and is frequently not squared to the puck
I believe in the bounce back. We know he's shown capable of how well he can play, he just has to consistently do it. With all that said Pickard deserves more starts with how well hes been doing
The problem with the team in front of him is a stand around and watch problem. Had the same problem when I coached 10-11 year olds. But they weren’t being paid.
Hope he can keep focus. Since coming off the break, his GAA is way way up. Vs Boston he let in 3 easy goals and the OT goal was a complete blunder with that poke check. He just needs to get back on track and he’s definitely our guy! I love his play and you can see him getting better with his edge work.

Gotta work on short side stops. Been letting in a few each game and other teams are exploiting this weakness.

Great mindset. TRUST IN STU
He’s good, it’s just Bruins was lucky to have that goal

Not a Stanley Cup caliber goalie
Stu dont over work your self give more games to Pickard so he can be more better as a back up
I think he is great. Just not last night.
Just do it Skinner!!!Believe focus, be alert and more more fast! We believe you can!!
Glad he focused on him personally, but our defensemen need to stop screening our goalie. Their positioning has been horrible.
Bad bad game skinner. Back to your old bullshit. Still no goalie oilers ! No goalie. No cup. He’s not a starting goalie. Send him down.
Let’s in too many soft goals. Team won’t go far if his play doesn’t improve.

stuar looked tired in the boston game, not sharp as usual
