Sorry, but I see no reason why Kesselring needed to react and I call it bone-headed play on his part. Niedereitter was simply gliding in to line up a shot at the goalie, and because he turned at the last second he couldn't really stop himself before making contact. There was nothing malicious, and yet at times, players like Kesselring just let their testosterone-filled emotions get in the way of logic.
