  1. Other reports are saying Sid likes having Guentzel around and doesn’t want him moved, so I wouldn’t be surprised if nothing at all happens on that front.

Holl can go. He hasn’t been impactful.

What “snarl” dmen can we bring on board?

    1. Want Guentzel

    2. Radko Gudas fits the bill for snarl d-man

    3. not AS concerned about goalie situation, but probably recency bias based on Reimer’s last few performances.

  3. stabbykill

Are we getting a stinky dman or a snarl one? Why can’t they make up their mind?

  4. Ok-Dirt5717

Just a bunch of speculative garbage aside from the Raymond and Seider bit which is obvious to anyone lol

I really dunno if I want Gudas for 3 years at 4 million.

Give out Holl for a bag of pucks, clearly he hasn’t worked out.

Goalies really don’t fit our window right now, we aren’t gonna chase Markstrom for his cap hit (plus I don’t want him after he made comments about Detroit in the past) and that basically leaves Jake Allen who’s got a 3.85 million cap hit next year, and we’d have to offload Husso.

I really don’t see us taking on any players in the coming TDL.

Sending Holl back to Toronto would be the funniest shit to happen

After Saturdays outing against Florida I’d rather not see us be buyers this deadline if it doesn’t move the needle in an impactful way…focus on getting deals done for players like Seider/Raymond/Sprong and whoever else Yzerman feels deserves to be around. Let this years playoffs be where we evaluate what we’re in need of & who needs to be let go. Give some prospects a chance to crack the lineup and then use the offseason to bring in whoever we feel plugs any leftover gaps in the lineup. Last thing we need is a reactionary trade deadline signing that isn’t a long term solution and doesn’t put us in the category that teams like the Panthers currently occupy.

Gudas would be very pricey but Seeler on the Flyers would fit the bill as well. Not sure how they move on from Holl but hoping there’s still light at the end of the tunnel for Edvinsson to crack the line up. Was reassuring hearing Newsy say they had solid pieces in the AHL too

Goddamn reading these Twitter headlines gives me fucking headaches

  10. Looks like they are pulling their article material straight from reddit

  11. I really wish we would’ve picked up Zadorov when he was available. I also still want Saaros if we can get him for the right price.

Aslong as we aren’t giving away decent assets for rentals I’m fine with whatever Stevie does and I don’t think that’s his goal at all.

  13. Posted in the daily discussion but here’s the exact quotes

“The Detroit Red Wings Elliotte, a team that made the big splash by signing Patrick Kane. I don’t think either of us think for one second though that Steve Yzerman gonna remain quiet this week. Knowing where the Red Wings are and knowing how much playoffs mean in Motown. You know what someone said to me on Saturday that could lead to maximum carnage. Toronto is looking for a right shot defender. You know who is available? Justin Holl? Yup. Yeah that could be some maximum carnage right there. “

“Depending on what Detroit was willing to do here I just kinda thought about it. It blew my mind the possibility of it occurring.”

“But Detroit is looking to clear up some space. My Guentzel theory I don’t know it fits but people make a great point that it’s not like Yzerman to give players like that 7 year extensions. I do think Detroit .. like they re-signed Rasmussen I do think Detroit has been doing their work on Raymond and Seider. Like that shouldn’t surprise anybody it’s not exactly a big scoop. But I do think Detroit is working at those so they know exactly what they’re going to be dealing with. All of that said a couple things for them you have talked about D I agree with you there. I have wondered about their left side. I’ll say this Alex Lyon saved their season but I wonder if he’s looking at a goalie. He’s got 3 but I wonder if there’s anyone he likes better. Somebody would go out. “

JM “ I get that you’re trying to improve certainly but my main thing there is a snarly defenseman as I’m told. “

“Well I know you said that and I don’t think you’re wrong. And he wants to clear up a bit of the logjam on the line there’s no question. I kinda wondered if Yzerman would do that. “

Ryan Hana should learn play by play from Ken Daniels

Seider and Raymond get matched contracts at either 7.5×8 or 8×8

Going off of feel here can’t make more than larks and yzerman is very very conservative and particularly with his cap space.

Outside shot at 7×8 for both but don’t dream to much

  16. Dumba as a snarl d man? He was pretty good w/ Minnesota but I haven’t payed attention to him recently. Heard he hasn’t been good for arizona but is he worse than what we have. I really don’t think we buy anything unless we can pull of hanafin or buchnevich. Could see us trading away less important pieces like holl, would likely need to retain or give away assets for another team to retain. May be worth it to get Johansson or edvinson in the winged wheel. I think we do trade Berggren but I hope it doesn’t happen. Could use him once some of our older core goes. If we can’t keep Kane he could be a good choice to replace him.

  17. I’m extremely nervous about this deadline and even off-season.

It was like six months ago when we made some upgrades, but the message was that we are still in a rebuild. Pretty sure even Steve used that word.

We have some big contacts to sign now, and we are looking competitive, yet still flawed. The number of spots up for grabs next year is limited due to a number of long term contracts we have. We have a million prospects, quite a few of which could reasonably be playing in the NHL.

We are in a position where we can either 1. sit tight and comfortably sign the key players, replacing the middle of the lineup guys like Perron and Sprong with prospects… Or 2. we can weaponize our prospect pool by packaging them and picks and bad contacts for upgrades.

    (Or 3. somewhere in between)

I’m in favor of doing the safe thing and sitting tight. Getting too confident when we are outperforming… Pretty much everyone’s expectations… Could lead to a franchise alteringly bad trade. Now, I think trading is probably Steve’s best trait… But the potential is still there and it’s making me clench my cheeks as I read about going after a guy like guentzel.

  18. No buying, thanks. This team has a ton of young depth really close to NHL level.

  19. Prize_Efficiency_869

Supposedly chychrun is on the market and they were rumors Detroit wanted him.

Yzerman if you can get him without losing asp and Simon go for it.

  20. AaronRodgersInjury

Heard Holl is a great locker room guy, should be a good pickup
    For the leaf
(Trying to meme this trade into existence)
