[Lassi Alanen] Watching Matvei Michkov’s games from this season; I’m pretty sure he’s putting even less effort to defending and ”cheating” even more for offence. Consistently looking for breakaways via stretch passes, flying the DZ early or not even arriving there in the first place.

That fits our style of play so well, let’s go all in on the rush

Wow, sounds like he needs the influence of a more defensive-minded coach. Perhaps SKA should consider loaning him to the Philadelphia Flyers for two years so Tortorella can help shape him into a better two-way threat.

Can’t wait to “Torts-ify” this guy. It’s going to be sick

  4. Steppyjim

Yeah Torts is gonna knock that right out of him don’t you worry. Most prospects that are high end are offensive minded. Just need guidance.

Literally couldn’t care less. Full speed ahead on the Michkov hype train, always.

Damn, almost like playing for the worst team in the league you’ve been banished to as punishment isn’t going to easily offer you the ability to play a sound two way game…cause…you know…usually dogshit players make it harder for high end talent to exhibit it.

But, fuck, what do I know? I’m just some guy that has the ability to realize that playing with substantially lower end talent on a team that’s intentionally bad would make it more difficult to be good. Crazy!

michkov missed about 1/3rd of the season with pneumonia, and played sick for about 25% of the games he dressed for, he was noticeably affected twitter talked about it before he was on IR. this is a bad luck year for him health wise and he still put up a record season for u20 players. and he’s still u20 next year. he said all hes going to do in the off season is train lol this isnt even his final form guys

    Follow up tweet:

    >Does this ultimately matter? Probably not. Michkov is a player who you want to give freedom to do his thing. He’ll reward you with offence. I’m just not sure there’s anyone currently in the NHL who is taking *that* many liberties with his defensive engagement.

  9. So an 18 year old offensive phenom doesn’t play defense well? I’m SHOCKED.

Is this another butthurt Habs reporter trying to console his fanbase?

That’s a shame. Need to send him to Philly to really teach him a lesson I think!
