  1. Yes, it’s an incredibly dirty hit. Dunn had his back to him the whole time.

  2. SnooOpinions8755

Absolutely, if that’s not intent to injure I’m not sure what is.

  3. Absolutely. That sort of dangerous play has no place in the game.

  4. dawggawddagummit

I’d like to see someone try to argue why this SHOULDN’T be a suspension. This is like someone running a red light and t boning the car in the intersection.

  5. EvidenceAlive8688

It’s a very dirty hit but wtf is Dunn doing. It looks like his controller disconnected

  6. theFreinerthings

Guy wont fight because he has concussion history but does this?

‘Kick him off the tour, Doug!’

  7. JacobsLawFirm

It appears as though he caused the player to hurt his neck and the damage was done instantaneously. Suspension without a doubt, though that punishment is not going to help the injured player.

I’d say absolutely yes. But I’d also like to add, it may of been Torts (who I cannot stand but agree with him on this) said players are not putting themselves in position to protect themselves. They’re not ready to take hits anymore or skate while being safe. I played all the way through College, I’m 37 now. There is absolutely no way back in High School and College I’m not completely aware of my surroundings and sitting that far off the boards while holding the puck. There’s just no way, I’m not putting myself in a dangerous spot because I know someone is gonna lay a hit on me any second.

That does not excuse this hit, that player was looking at his numbers and knew better, but the dude who got hit also cannot just be standing there like that. Regardless I’d say that’s worthy of a 2-3 game suspension. That was a stupid hit and extremely dangerous.

5 and a game. No doubt.

It’s impossible to decide on intent. Because for a brief second it looked like 29 was going away from the net.

But what I would add games on for is the hands above the elbows.

Why can’t these young guys keep the hands and sticks down.

I’d say at least 3-5 games if first suspension. 10+ if second or more.

  10. No_Pilot8753

100% and I’m a flames fan, two hits like this in the game. He had another one just like this earlier in the year. He reminds me of Garnett Hathaway, or Tkachuck without the skill. I hope he learns before someone knocks him out of the league with another concussion.

  11. No room for hits like this in the nhl , or any league.

  12. Flesh-Tower

Didn’t Larson do the same thing and get nailed the same way.

  13. rossco311

Wow, that’s got to be at least 5 games, saw the numbers the whole way and never let up, I hope Dunn is okay.

  14. soufboundpachyderm

Why wouldn’t it be? Looks like a clear hit from behind at the very very least. Definitely looks like intent to injure to me.

  15. Crandall0607

Dunn, don’t put yourself into that position where you are vulnerable.

In my opinion ugly hit and suspension, but I remember on podcast that talked about players that get rarely hit dangerously because they are good for postioning themselves on the ice. I think they highlighted Patrick Kane how good he is avoiding and taking hits.

Don’t trust on rules, referees and opponents respect. Take care yourselves

  16. spinorama29part2

Should dunn have protected himself better? Sure. Absolutely. But i dont fuckin care if he did or not you cant check a guy right to the numbers. Especially with his head down. It’s not necessary. It’s dangerous. It doesnt belong in the game. Suspension worthy for sure

  17. Ofiotaurus

Why are you even asking? Dunn had his back turned the whole time and was some 3 feet away from the board, serious chance for an injury and an incredibly dirty hit. Should be a multiple game suspension.

  18. myfacealadiesplace

If that’s not a suspension then nothing is. There was absolutely no reason to drill him into the boards like that. I’d be pretty pissed if he got less than 6 games for that

  19. trevlarrr

Aside from Lyubushkin being closer to the boards can someone tell me what’s the difference between this and the Rempe hit at the weekend that got no call?

  20. derpmcperpenstein

What exactly is the correct play for the Calgary defender here?

  21. CarefulSubstance3913

For sure is. I just don’t really understand what Dunn was doing?

  22. Ok-Knowledge-9776

It was a dirty hit and it should get Pospisil suspended.

It is Pospisil’s fault. But Dunn should also protect himself better and shouldn’t be standing like that 1-2m away from the boards: looking at the boards. That makes him super-exposed, and totally unaware of his surroundings.

  23. brownietownington

Quit asking passive-aggressive questions and make a statement.

  24. throwmeaway_6996

No worries, Trouba and Marchand already received a fine for that.

  25. Watch Gourde get suspended for two more games instead.

  26. rocketmn69_

Rempe on Lyubushkin didn’t even garner a penalty when he charged him and left his feet, the other night Lyubushkin is out with a head injury. No penalty on the play and no word of a hearing

  27. Ta-veren-

isnt this the same hit that rempe landed on a leaf player and nothing was called?

  28. Minimum_Possibility6

Yep this is text book throw book at the player.

Don’t want to see these hits at all

  29. Man.. he had so much time to think twice about completing that hit.

    Suspension for sure.

  30. Parking-Shelter7066

sorry to harp but this is why I think fighting should remain, if guys can’t fight and protect their line then they’re gonna retaliate to hits like this with more dirty hits.

    fisticuffs it is, baby

  31. He deserves a jaw suspension for blindly boarding the guy.

  32. this_name_not_that

Anyone defending this hit is a complete idiot.

  33. OneNutPhil

Yes, will it get one? Better hope there’s been a lot of social media uproar

  34. harman097

    Yes, 100%.

    Also, wtf is Dunn doing?

Guys are intentionally exposing their backs, at this point, to try and draw penalties. I don’t know what the solution is – I can’t even say for sure that this is an example of that – but it’s a pretty big problem.

  35. WhoJustShat

Are we really going to have to bust out the youth hockey stop signs in the NHL

  36. Critical_Tea9066

How about don’t put your self in that position defenseless for so long like that?!
