  1. No secret hasn’t been as seemless of a fit as we were hoping.

You’d have to assume he’s good enough that the offence will come at one point and the slip in his own end is likely the result of learning a new system as still doing well on the PK.

  2. metrichustle

Remember we got him for the playoffs. He has experience, he’ll turn it up then. If not, it was still a trade worth making. He was the most wanted UFA Center. Good thing is, he is just a rental so if it doesn’t work out, it won’t mess up the cap in the future.

  3. VancityRenaults

Not too worried yet since the whole team hasn’t looked good since the all-star break.

Personally, I think Hoglander-Pettersson-Lindholm has the right ingredients to be a good line. Hoggy can grind out the puck in the corner, give it to Petey who threads the cross-crease pass to Lindy for the finish.

  4. starcross24

I don’t care as long as as he shows up for the playoffs

  5. brodiefilm

This is why they bought early, more time to learn the system. And now Vancouver has bonded through adversity, the other teams are so screwed.

  6. tillermelnyk

Wait, I thought he was supposed to get better after coming here?

    I miss that 1st.

  7. CowboyCanuck24

It’s the defense and defensive IQ that has annoyed me so far with the fit. Yesterdays game was a good example not getting the puck out with the empty net, i think he was trying too hard to set up someone with a goal and be a good teammate or something. Feels like hes trying too hard or something.

Bro giving some real Loui Eriksson vibes. He needs a bit of a kick to get going. I’m not saying he’s LE, but he’s sure as heck playing like him. Decent defensively and a black hole with the puck on his stick.

  9. New System

    Team in Slump

    Juggled on multiple lines

    Yea… that’ll do it.

His numbers will improve once we get back to our style/brand of Hockey.

    He’ll be fine

  10. Nomad_0024

Well at least we dumped kuzmenko contract because Lindholm has been ass

  11. votrechien

This is why it’s good to overpay a bit to get a player earlier. By the end of the regular season we’ll know what his fit is, good or bad rather than trying to force it in the playoffs.

  12. Aaron1601

And this is exactly why it was so important to get this trade done early. Plenty of time for him to settle in before the playoffs. Imagine him slumping like this with the playoffs starting tomorrow. He’d get eaten alive by the media making it even more difficult to bounce back.

    Let him cook

Its a cautionary tale on deadline deals.

Not every player will fit the system or the team.

Not every player wants to actually be traded.

And many players really don’t care about the playoffs.

Hopefully Lindholm figures it out here.

I think everyone is overlooking his face-off wins. He’s 3rd in the league this season!!

He’s at ~58% with the Canucks, and 55% give or take historically! Last night Toccet literally had him on the ice to take a face-off, and then Lindy raced back to the bench until it was his lines turn.

Yes, he will (🫰) show up for playoffs. Yes, I wish he produced more points- but we can’t discount the face-off wins. We’ve got depth, we’ve got strong players, but we need to start with the puck to set up likely scoring chances.

Face-offs were one of our weak spots for a while. Even if he’s a workhorse on the draw, I’d take a 58% chance of canucks starting the play for that price… currently our uncle JT Miller is the only one holding a candle to Lindys stats.

New team, new system. Takes some time to adjust.

  16. Dangerous-Finance-67

He’s had a negative impact on the entire team chemistry. Skates like he has molasses on his knees.

So far I fucking hate the guy lol (as a player not as a person)

  17. He reminds me a bit of Horvat when he got traded to NYI last year. Didn’t put up the offensive number after the trade but helps the with other attributes of his game.

I still believe there is a level of offense we haven’t seen from him that we could get in the months of March/April and into the playoffs.

  18. Hunter-Western

Since his first 2-3 games, he’s been terrible, hopefully he can turn his game around heading into the playoffs.

  19. DanielTigerr

    Giving me Louie Eriksson vibes.

Let’s see what he does in the playoffs.

I don’t see any scenario that has him back next year.

If he sucks, won’t be resigned.

If he’s good, too expensive. Won’t be resigned.

  20. PaperMoonShine

I think Lindholm could really elevate the 3rd line with Garland and Joshua into a legitimate 2nd line. I know it would suck for Blueger but I think it has to be done.

  21. I think it’s a hard pill to swallow because Monahan has been stellar with his new club.

  22. Spookedchicken

I’m not all that worried yet regarding his point totals. He’s a smart player, has a rock solid faceoff% which is in line with his avg the past couple years. The team as a whole is in a slump not just him.

I see a few ways for his acquisition to be a success in my eyes. Ultimately we gotta win at least a round to justify in hindsight spending assets to get him. But if that happens and Lindholm is a) a fixture on Petey’s line as centre or wing; b) is the 2nd line C which allows the lotto line to be together for large stretches or c) is the centre on a shutdown 3rd line like a Philip Danault type who frees up easier match ups for the 1st, 2nd & Blue/Gar/Josh lines.

Obviously we all want to see some juicy points for the fun factor but with the kind of flexibility Lindholm has not all of his value is going to show up in point totals.

  23. Unpopular opinion…it was a fuck’n stupid trade then and it’s a fuck’n stupid trade now.
Downvote away but it’s the truth.

  24. Quirky-Chocolate1719

I’m not concerned about the lack of production. What I’m really concerned about is his lack of intensity and speed, there’s no hustle in his game. He is barely noticeable on the ice and doesn’t look aggressive or engaged. He always looks like he’s on “coast” mode and it’s a bit frustrating to watch.

I understand he has to pace himself as he plays a lot of minutes, and he does the little things right, but we paid a hefty cost for someone that should be capable of a much higher level.

Outside of his faceoff ability and decent PK, he hasn’t shown ANY elite top 6 capabilities, whatsoever. And yes, he does make good defensive reads, but if you think about it, that’s because his line often chases the play and doesn’t have offensive possession in the first place.

I really hope he can turn things around, but I’m also quite skeptical as what we’re currently seeing is simply what Lindholm has been the past year or so.
