Alex Ovechkin had the worst scoring first half of the season in his career, but has been on fire since the All-Star break with seven goals in seven games. Is Ovechkin back to being a lock to catch Wayne Gretzky’s all-time scoring record? Bryan Hayes joins That’s Hockey to weigh in.

Is it me or was Brian Hayes dropped in from the 1980s?
Just selling clicks. I remember golfers coming and going after good first few seasons we kept hearing here’s the next tiger. Matthews has 6 years in the league he’s 550 goals shy of Gretzky. Enough with the comparisons
Hayes is the real deal 👍🏻
9 year career only because of injury. 5 over 60 goal seasons. Rest over 50 except last year 38 with injury shortened season. 5 straight cup finals 4 straight wins. Easy greatest goal scorer ever Mike Bossy and that is coming from a Caps fan. 22 easily not even close is the greatest goal scorer ever.
the matthews talk is insulting to all parties. talk to me in ten years
Too early to judge matthews. Ovi can absolutely get 900 career goals. He's very slow but he still has that shot in him
Records are made to be broken. It looks like Chicago’s rookie star will likely pass them all – well maybe?
one thing for sure is that Matthews will never see a cup
Toronto centric media have the worst takes. Especially Hayes
This guy is a clown get a guy behind the desk thats not a idiot
Matthew who
Far too early to think Matthews will get up there. Ovie is there cause he has been great in his 30s. Matthews is in his prime on an offensive talented team. In 5-7 years he may be a 25 goal scorer and finish up with 750. We’ll see.
Mathews is gonna slow down. Hes gonna get injured in the playoffs im betting. He wont reach 700 goals.
this guy on the left is a turd
Is it true he's Putin's supporter?
Well you don't want to support a friend of a war criminal, mass murderer and mobster, or do you?
Not sure who the guy on the left is, but what an utter prick. Nothing sad at all about someone still being relevant on the ice at 40 or beyond. The only sad thing I saw is a dick with a shit eating grin and obvious bias tearing on one of the best players of all time. I'm an Isles fan and rooting for Ovi all the damn way.
It’s way harder to score now at any point in Ovechkin’s career than it was when Gretzky played. Nothing sad about what Ovi has and still is doing.
matthews won't break either cause he doesn't have the durability or longevity
Look let's be honest.. Canadian people love Gretzky and it will be a sad day in Canada when the record is broken.
Ovechkin in his 30s averaged 40 goals a season. Howe and Jagr averaged 30. Gretzky averaged 24…………. Matthews has already missed as many games as Ovechkin did. You’re really gonna tell me Matthews is gonna break this? Fuck Canadian media.
How it sad 😆 😆 🤣, Ovi will pass Gretzky
Lets remember Gretzky retired at 38.If he played 2 more years to 40 as the Putin supporter will he would always hold the record.
