I would've at least ask him to sign the ball!!!
I read former popular umpire Durwood Merrill's autobiography recently and he told a cool story about Nolan Ryan.
On a hot Texas day when Durwood had the plate, he was hosting his grandson and friends for his grandson's birthday at the ballpark. Before batting practice, Durwood was taking them around to get players' autographs. Nolan, who was still playing when this happened, told Durwood that he should be back in the umpires' room relaxing and then took Durwood's grandson & friends around to finish getting their autographs. I guess he showed them a great time.
Yeah, well, he still has horrible taste in friends.
I'm named after him
Greg Gibson, home plate umpire
wouldve been sexist if he didnt give it away…
Did anyone else get an advertisement in Italian or Spanish before watching this?
LOL at Nolan Ryan camping out at Astros games now that the Rangers ran him off.
