Meier and Palat have both been busts. Punt on this year and definitely get something for Toffoli.
Surprisingly bad season for the Devils. Saw this one coming..
Not surprised by the firing of Lindy Ruff–the Devils have been erractic and disappointing this season.
Devil's management saw the good young pieces coming up to the team last year, and i think they jumped the gun a little by acquiring those veteran players. Ruff needed to go in the off season, just as a starting goalie was needed to be found, not the platoon of has beens and wannabees they have now. Hughes and Nemec have got to be nurtured here, not thrown to the wolves. If I was the NJ GM, i would be thinking it's good i signed an extension when i did. He needs to give this team more of a chance.

Devils are underperforming BIGTIME!!! Bottom line in today's NHL, coach is 1st to go.
1. Ruff takes the fall as expected.
2. They need "G" big time.
3. Trade Toffoli and get some young prospects or picks.
4. The are 8 points out of playoff spot now BUT they need to climb over 3-4 teams just to get into the #2 WC spot…ain't gonna happen. They left it too late.
I don't even like Lindy Ruff all that much, but this is unfair. His goaltending was disastrous and Jack Hughes has been in and out of the lineup.
Devils have lawsy goaltending. So instead of getting a decent goalie, they fire Lindy. Have to wonder why Fitzgerald could not fill an obvious need for a goalie, going back to end of last season. Lindy is a former NHL player, but don't recall him playing goal. A depleted D core didn't help either, but Fitzgerald fiddled around all season while team was in flames.
Ruff didnāt have the stuff.
Remember how in the Roman coliseum the emperor would ask the crowd if a gladiator deserved mercy? I think the NJ crowd played a role in this chop of the axe.
Let the Barenaked Ladies sing Too Little Too Late for saving this season.
I feel the wrong guy got fired. Fitzgerald should have been fired. Lindy had issues at Goal and Defense to deal with

Great Breaking News, as usual, Mike. I don't think that Lindy's the problem. I think that it's a Roster Problem. Many, if not all, of the Moves (Tiffoli, Meire, Palat & others) have turned to be Bad Moves. I don't really understand that GM Fitzgerald gets A New Contract & Lindy Ruff gets fired. Let me know what you think.
Oh I didn't know we were taking New Jersey seriously this season.
This is hilarious just a year ago everyone was praising how great the Devils were, they gave Ruff an extension and goaltending was phenomenal.
Like I said last season itās a flukeā¦
No worries. He'll just sign with another team next season like most crappy, fired coaches do. I can think of two other coaches at the moment who fit into that same category and are currently behind their respective benches.
