[Dreger] Call underway. Vegas acquires Hanifin from Calgary for a 1st round pick, Miromanov and a Conditional 3rd, upgrades to a 2nd if VGK win a playoff round. Double salary retention. Hearing Philadelphia is the broker.

  1. Hanafin and retention and THAT’S THE RETURN?!?!

  2. Nativejoel

    Underwhelming. But expected.

But Jesus. Conroy nailed the toffoli trade. Nailed the Lindholm trade. Did okay for the Zadorov trade.

And has seemed to underperformed for the tanev and Hanifin trades. This Hanifin trade especially.

But hey! At least we’re not walking any UFAs worth a damn to free agency.

That is…. not great. Not AWFUL but not great

Offers from Tampa must have been putrid

  4. Cautious-Weakness-54

If this is it huge L by CC. Keeping Hanifin in the division will burn us

  5. itsyaboigelo

Sounds like Rick Harrison negotiated this trade for the Golden Knights.

Do not wish violence on Pat Brisson

Do not wish violence on Pat Brisson

Do not wish violence on Pat Brisson

I say over and over in my head

  7. Return was always going to be limited with the number of teams Hanifin was willing to sign with. 1st + mostly a 2nd is pretty good value

  8. GrafNebelgeist

    That’s kinda brutal…

need more than that for Hanifin…

Rental return people. This should have been expected given everything that’s gone on.

  10. MonkeySailor

Brisson and Hanifin really screwed Flames over if that’s the entirety of the return. It’s worse than the usual rental return of a 1st + roster player + prospect for a player of Hanifin’s calibre.

  11. This is not with an extension.. at least at this point

  12. TravisTouchdown_51

Not great but still better than having Hanifin walk for nothing in the offseason.

  13. First round pick for someone who was going to walk at the end of season? This is better than people think.

Flames now have three first rounders next draft and Hanifin could still likely walk and sign with Tampa in the off season.

So what’s our draft capital looking like the next 3 years?

For 2024, we have 2 1st round picks (VAN, CGY), + whatever we have afterwards. Especially considering Hanifin doing his side deals wasn’t the greatest tbh.

It’ll be interesting to see what Conny cooks with before and during the draft. Personally, I’d like a mix of BPA, and try our best to move up and potentially get Tij Iginla.

Edit: Yeah NVM, we’re probably not getting that 1st rounder this year…

  15. Well, look at it this way. We just got back assets for a player that was going to walk in free agency. This is better than nothing, especially knowing how we’ve been burned in the past.

  16. imaybeacatIRl

They’re gunna win a playoff round. 1st, 2nd, and roster scrub. That’s fine.

Hanifin fucked us with his Tampa bullshit.

  17. Chemical_Signal2753

I don’t think this return is as bad as others seem to. It is short of what I was hoping for but is a decent return for ~20 games of Hanifin.

  18. This is not great, really disappointing. Better than nothing, but.. wow.

  19. Little-Aide-5396

Scouting department better get the fuck to work

  20. I mean at least he didn’t walk for free but this is disappointing.

Gotta recognize the tough situation Conroy was put into though with Hanifin and his agents being POS to work with and holding us hostage.

I am fully confident Conroy took the best offer and sees something in this Miromanov guy who actually had 6 points in 14 games last year as a D-man.

People trust our management, they value the players coming back in both the Hamafin and Tanev deals. I bet the same guys saying wtf said the same shit when we dealt Toffoli. I think they know a tad more about talent than any of us. Just sayin.

  22. KelownaMan

I haven’t trusted Hanifin since the Oiler debacle. He was fucking awful and soft. He’s a good defenceman, not a difference maker. He might be a guy to help you get to the dance but once he gets there, he’s two left feet. Downvote me. I wish I didn’t but I also feel the same about Markstrom.

  23. wedgesocket

    Hanifin…will be boo’d 1000 percent.

A stock pile of picks better bartering for say Jerome’s boy ??
