Found out you were a buffalo saber what were your thoughts uh yeah obviously a lot of things going through my mind um just super excited uh you know a good young team here with a bright future so um yeah just excited to be a part of

Things and um you know excited to get the first one out of the way here tonight you know when you first hear the news you’re traded from the Avalanche after all the success there you wonder oh is the guy going to be bummed out but knowing all the connections you have in

This team how did that almost immediately change your emotion when you found out hey you got traded but be it was Buffalo yeah um you know obviously I loved Colorado and I have a lot of good friends there U made a lot of memories but um you know it was obviously my time

To go and uh I was just super excited to come somewhere where I where I knew some of the guys and I knew I’d feel comfortable right away so um super excited for that like I said um a lot of good friends here and I just can’t wait

To get started how long have you known Krebs and cousins long time uh you know I played against krey and played with him a lot growing up since we were I don’t know like Nish probably and uh cuz I played with them and then um a

Lot of hockey C stuff so um yeah it’s good to be back with those guys how long did it take you to pick up the phone and call EJ and what was that conversation like uh yeah it didn’t take very long he was uh calling me quite a bit um he was

Just excited obviously uh I played with him um in Denver for a long time and we were partners for quite a while too so uh he’s a really good friend and um you know awesome to have him here just to help me uh feel comfortable with everything what were those moments like

When you decided you were going to come meet the team in Nashville uh yeah I got I had the flu yesterday so I was a little under the weather um but I just decided I wanted to get out here and and be with the guys and try to get in the

First game so um it was pretty easy once I started feeling better uh yesterday to try to get to Nashville and play in Colorado you played with a superstar Mar here I think you’re going to wind up playing with another one in Dalene so it’s something you’re used to uh yeah

Obviously two really good players um you know I don’t know as much about uh Ras as I do about kale but I know that he’s a really good player with a lot of skill and um you know excited to to get to know him and get to know the rest of the

Guys what did you learn when you played with kale just about playing with a guy with that kind of skill yeah um I mean I learned that my job’s quite easy when I play with them but uh now Kell’s an awesome guy and a really good

Friend and um yeah he’s uh obviously one of the best defenseman in the league and um you know I think our decor here is really good a lot of young guys that are um you know looking to prove themselves so uh just super excited to be here you

Know you got to stay healthy everybody knows that but you have on your resume that cup and the way you played during that run what does it take for you to be at that level on a consistent basis do you think yeah uh I think it’s a lot of

Different things um you know I think I’m going to have a good opportunity here to play and uh play my style of game and um you know I’m just excited to be be wanted by the coaching staff and the and the management so um it’s a good feeling

This defense core specifically the not only the talent level but the age how exciting is that opportunity with the kind of the core of defenseman here now yeah it’s awesome uh like I said there’s a lot of good young players so um you know hopefully we can build something

Together when you win that cup that lasts forever how do you carry that experience through the rest of your career knowing what it took to get to that point when there’s so many people in this locker room who haven’t experienced that yet yeah um you know I

Was pretty lucky being a young guy in the NHL to have the opportunity to play in the playoffs and and win a cup um I learned a lot from a lot of guys in in Colorado um you know a lot of guys really taught me how to be a pro and um

You know I’m just going to come here and do the same thing I always do prepare for games and try to be ready to go so uh you know it’s nothing real real crazy for me I don’t think I got to change anything just just be myself for your

First game I know you’re going to talk to the coaches a little bit and you’ll talk to some of the players too but in your first game did you just kind of go have to be yourself and and get yourself through it and just play the way you

Know you can play yeah I think so um you know obviously there’s differences and systems and whatnot that uh might take a little bit of getting used to but um yeah I think the message’s just been go go play my game and um that’s what I’m

Looking to do here when you look at your game I know you you like to attack you like to make the first pass just how much you balance the aggressiveness to it with you know using your skill uh you know I think I’m at my best when I’m

Skating and uh you know using my feet to get out of situations or join the rush whatever it might be so um that’s what I try to FOC focus on the most and um you know it won’t change coming here that’s that’s part of my game that’s what makes

Me um the player I am so uh yeah just excited to uh get the first one under my belt here what’s it been like to visit Dylan and white horse and I know you were in Cancun with him and what’s that relationship like you two guys yeah he’s

Uh one of my best friends and has been for a long time and will be for a long time um you know we’re just kind of laughing about how we’re going to see each other every day now uh kind of just an interesting feeling but um yeah it’s

Cool uh you know there’s a few guys in this team that I talked about that I have previous um you know relationships with so uh just makes me feel comfortable coming here you think of that World Junior Team it’s pretty amazing Quinn Levi Dylan Krebs I mean

And you’re all ending up together in the NHL now yeah it’s cool um you know I think looking back we never would have thought it but uh now that we’re here now it’s uh it’s pretty cool and um yeah we’re just looking to uh you know get some chemistry together and play well
