I don't know who's realistically available now or in the offseason or what the price would be but …. goalies I'd really like to get: Binnington. Ullmark. Logan Thompson. And maybe/arguably Gustavsson from Minnesota, even though he's been very up and down.

We'll see what Toffoli ends up getting but I think he's looking for more than 5×5 and I don't think he'd be a good long term solution. He can be replaced in FA or with Holtz's growth, the cap saved can be spent better elsewhere (goalie).
Fitz can start cleaning up this miss by getting some assets for Toffoli and Miller, if Toffoli really wants to be here, he can come back on a team-friendly deal in the summer.

I'm prepared to be disappointed in the Toffoli return š we need a '24/'25 1st out of him to flip, but I'm expecting two lesser pieces instead after all the buying that's been done from the contenders. Here's hoping we get someone to bite on that ask, or better.
Btw – to your point in the second half of the video – I'm also super concerned about how much collective decision making is being done as a whole. Fully agree, I think it will scare off quality coaching candidates tbh! They need and deserve full roster autonomy. Hope this isn't true, but if it is we're in some trouble.

I can kind of sort of see where Fitzgerald is coming from and that he does not want to give TofoliĀ the years. Fitzgerald is conserving money and assets. Of course we have to deal with the goalie issue asap.

As Devils fans, we need to hit ownership where it hurts: Their wallet. Want to keep sucking? Want to keep denying the fact we need a goalie? Want to keep disappointing your fans? Ok no money for you. How the owners are not seeing the millions lost by not making the playoffs, and changing their style, is beyond me…but I urge all Devils fans: If you have season tickets, DON'T RENEW THEM!!!! I already know 2 people with season tickets who are not renewing after this season. Make the owners pay!
The fact this is actually what might be going on behind the scenes is beyond me. You dont hear about shit like this happening that often in the NHL and the fact that its our teams makes things so much worse
If anyone even thinks that ownership is calling the shots on which goalie plays on any given night then I don't know what to say. That is def not what's happening. There is no proof of this happening in any of their teams. If there was any thought of that happening it would be more believable with the 76ers then the Devils. We would have heard about this from all the media sources. We would even have heard this with Crystal Palace and Washington Commanders.
If your organization made it clear that the team was a contender this year in order to sell tickets, and then they actively took steps (because thatās cheaper/lazier) to dismantle that and return to the Harris/blitzer losing normal is a betrayal. Selling Toff was inevitable, given the circumstances, but those circumstances are inexcusable. This wasnāt a Dougie injury that was beyond our control, this was active steps, taken by the organization, either through the analytics department, through the ownership, lowballing, through lame negotiating/inactivity on the part of Fitz just to return to the inertia of any Harris/Blitzer organization: that of losing.

No were not. Fitzgerald built a team that cant win. Plus, Fitzgerald still has to acquire a goalie. So the farm is depleted. This isnt steps back, this is the league not being impressed by the Devils speed anymore.

In L.A. you saw Tofolli make a lousy pass, then grope for the puck with his stick in front of the goal instead of laying a body check (G-d forbid), lose the play, and then give up the back breaking score. If he has no grit now – what will he have over the next 5 years?
Daws is doing a great job tonight, But i would prefer him as a backup. If they can get a star min goalie i think this will free the stress from the offense. When they have that piece of mind they are able to create good chances against good goalies.
I bet MacDermid could skate faster than Toffoli. Why people want to spend on players who refuse to play defense is beyond me. Go Daws baby!
