Literally registers a zero on defensive metrics. Sure he’s a finisher which is exactly what we need, but I’m ok with this. Carolina was always going to be tough. But guess what, we can more than hold our own and we can make a series against ANY team. Especially if our top 6 — especially Mika and Bread — show up. If Mika, Bread and Shesty are on, we have a chance at the cup, bar none.

Guentzel is very good, but I’m glad he’s not coming to the Rangers simply because of what would have been needed and his impending free agency. Kakko has struggled of course, but his potential + cap impact still has more value to us than in a trade. The Rangers likely would have needed to send Kakko/Othmann/Perrault + a 1st to get it done and there is a very good chance he tests the market in the summer.
I’m tired of these rentals, very few of which have worked out and often lead to serious asset depletion.
I wonder if Drury just says “we’re good” but then scoops up a few scraps on the cheap at 2:59. I think we need to face the reality that we “went for it” last season and it didn’t pan out. Not much left in the chamber for these deals.

Yeah I’m fine with this. I didn’t want to give up Kakko and prospects or 1st picks for a rental. Guentzel is also a LW which we don’t fucking need. We are so overstacked on LW it’s not even funny. I rather us get an actual RW.
