Josh Norris Injured In Ottawa Senators Loss + SensCentral Citizen

Not only did the Ottawa Senators manage to record an embarrassing historical franchise stat while losing 4-1 to the Nashville Predators, but they also have injury added to the insulting loss.
Brandon Piller and Ross Levitan recap last night game that saw the Sens go through an entire period without a shot on goal, for the first time in franchise history, in the third period. That’s 7,247 periods for your reference. We have a SensCentral Citizen on today! It’s Jonah Soucy (@Soucer23)! He tells us about becoming a Sens fan, what this team should look at doing at the trade deadline and more! We also discuss Josh Norris leaving the game with an upper body injury, unfortunately it looked like his left shoulder is hurt again. How will this affect the Sens lineup?

  1. Norris was scared to get traded. Can’t trade him if he is injured, ouch my shoulder 😮

  2. Untouchables, Tkachuk, Stützle, Sanderson.

I suppose there could be a scenario where you move one of Brady or Timmy to build a team around the other. It would make me epically sad tho.

  3. I feel our management team is top notch. They need to take a hit to correct things, pull some strings and use their connections. I want them to get the best goalie out there. Give to get 🥅 a true #1
    GO SENS GO

  4. Staios and company are looking at a capped out team with massive holes in the lineup and virtually no prospects in the system.
They have no reliable goal tending and no goalies in the system that will be ready to play anytime soon and Dorion chained them to Korpisalo for 4 more years. No easy solution there that I can see.
They have no RD other than Zub and JBD and no one in the system. On the left side they will be fine with Chabot, Sanderson and Kleven once Brannstrom is gone but no opposing forwards will ever have to worry about getting hit by on that D other than maybe the rookie, Kleven, if he even proves good enough to make the team.
Their forward group has skill but is also very soft and seemingly very fragile, also with no prospects to speak of in the system. A capable GM with a competent scouting staff should be able to beef up the bottom 6 but there will be some wizardry required to fill out the top 6 when both Tarasenko and Giroux are gone, especially if they've seen the last of Norris or he proves tro be injury prone. Some players are just like that.
So Staios and company don't have a magic wand they can wave to fix the mess that Pierre "Proudest Day" Dorion left behind and that's frustrating to Sens fans but we better get used to it because it's not going away anytime soon. Look how long it has taken Martin to just get these guys to play responsible hockey 101 and they still screw it up from time to time.
I'm going to watch with great interest to see what decisions they do make at the deadline and in the off season and just keep my fingers crossed that they can perform some kind of exorcism to remove the curse of Melnyk, Dorion and Smith that has haunted this franchise for so long; but I do understand the concept of reality and that sometimes it's better to take a little extra time in order to ensure that you're making the right moves.

  5. Hire Craig Berube already. He’d be perfect fit. Love the show guys. Faithful subscriber and listener

  6. They said they were gonna prove everyone wrong….
Well that was a short lived effort….
Goalies suck so bad they don’t give the team confidence when they let in certain goals that a beer guzzling fan in the stands could stop while he staggered in the net…
Korpi is a train wreck of a signing…..
We should unload some dead weight and get a real goalie.
None of it matters until next season though…

  7. I tuned out after the 2dn period when it was 3-1 only to wake up this morning seeing that they were outshot by a mind-blowing 20-0 in the 3rd. That has to be an NHL record and their 0-11 West road record definitely puts them in the Hall of Shame category.

  8. Our prospect pool is pretty beat up right now. Both Sens are having some troubles right now once again.

  9. I think, with Norris healthy, our top 9 really works for the system based hockey that the Sens want to play. Like, without an elite level goal scorer on the team we'll have to beat teams using our strategy and system vs just relying on putting a dangerous player out on the ice with a weapon of a shot. But, as we've seen with the last few games, system based hockey is really susceptible to player's emotions especially when it not only requires all out effort every shift but also "belief"

So while the top 9F is clicking, or starting to click, I think our bottom 4D are not. There is a case to be made about Sanderson's shot–he needs to get it on net if he's gunna shoot–but the lack of adequate let alone strong defensive pairings that work well together means that sens are constantly exposing their less-than-average goalies to dangerous opportunities. Some recent highlight plays/efforts have come from the forwards playing a 200ft game and skating hard for the backcheck, which is fantastic, but the bad pinching in the OZ and the lazy skates in the DZ mean, for me, that the best place for a player shake-up would be in that bottom 4–that's where are GM can make the most impact (outside of scouting some under-the-radar goaltender that everyone else has slept on). RHD and/or a big body D–things that players can't change–would make a large impact and could only come from a trade or a call up. And I don't think it is a case of terrible players either (Hamonic notwithstanding) its more about the fit for the team and the playstyle the players are finding success with. If Chabot got traded I would be upset (of course) but also content because he, like Alfie, deserves his shot at the cup. Which COULD happen next year but if it is a hot market for D right now it might just be a business decision to make.
