Claude Julien Says 2011 Bruins are “Together for Life” Because of Stanley Cup Win | Bruins Interview

What has it meant to you to be back with uh with this grou it it’s been awesome uh honestly uh there’s so much I could talk about first of all you know coming back here to an organization where I spent 10 great years uh as not only as a

Coach but as a family uh we we still to a certain extent consider this home uh but at the same time senior players that you had an opportunity to win a Stanley Cup with and seeing the uh the transition that we’re all making in in

Life and uh some still in hockey some in in other uh areas it’s just great to catch up and uh as they say when you uh uh when you win together you’re together for life and uh you know it it’s amazing the conversations and the and and it

Just seems like a comfortable situation to be in right now uh from our dinner last night to uh the after hour activity that happened afterwards and catching up it’s been great and you know honestly I know you hear that a lot but to the Jacob’s family you know the brunes

Organization cam Sween and all that stuff and uh and obviously Carrie and her group getting disorganized as has made a lot of happy people like uh uh everybody’s been excited to be here and that that includes me did you ever think you see bad brat as as an NHL Captain

Someday when you were coaching him as a young guy well you know to be honest uh wasn’t surprised when you know when Bergie retired and his name came up uh I really thought he was going to be the candidate because what what people uh most people didn’t didn’t see from Brad

Is from uh year one like when it came to game time he would show up at the rink and uh you guys probably heard me say that on the uh on different occasions there uh and doing some interviews but he was always very Prof professional and serious about his preparation for games

And he would come in the room and he’d be stretching he’d be you know videos uh he’d he’d be watching it closely and listening and uh he was a real Pro so I think he he’s a great example for the team now to see what it’s going to take

Because he’s had the opportunity to learn from you know the zido cheras of this world the Kies and the berson and the reies and you know all these guys we talked about that have been great leaders and I I know I’m leaving some names out but uh he has a chance to

Carry that now into this group and uh hopefully uh build some players uh like the players before built him so uh short answer not surprised

BOSTON — Former Bruins head coach Claude Julien and several other members of the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion gathered at TD Garden on Thursday ahead of tonight’s final “Eras” celebration held in conjunction with the team’s Centennial season.

Julien was with the Bruins for 10 seasons and said he and his family still consider Boston home.

“Seeing your players that you had an opportunity to win a Stanley Cup with and seeing the transition we’re all making in life, some still in hockey and some in other areas, it’s just great to catch up,” said Julien. “As they say, when you win together, you’re together for life. It’s amazing the conversations and it’s a comfortable situation to be in, right now from our dinner (Wednesday) night and after-hour activities and catching up, it’s been great. To the Jacobs family and the Bruins organization and Cam (Neely) and (Don Sweeney) and all that stuff and (director of community relations) Kerry (Collins) and her group getting this organized has made a lot of happy people. Everyone’s been excited to be here and that includes me.”
