[The Sabre Report] Watch this clip of Byram taking his first ever shift on the Sabres’ power play, it’s hilarious. He tries 2-3 times to direct the other players to move/rotate spots, and they hardly budge from their positions.

We are basically not an nhl team compared to what he is used to.
Donny take notes!
I noticed that a few times yesterday.
On the one hand, it’s disappointing for obvious reasons.
On the other hand, I hope he continues to be vocal and the guys start to listen (the fact he’s close friends with a few of these guys might help) because I think players directing eachother on the ice is 100x more effective than the coaches trying to re-wire every player between games.
Talked to Matty Ellis between periods and he said he’s working on it
I was just happy to see him carry the puck into the zone instead of the automatic drop pass at center ice
You could watch footage from our Power Play last year and even then you’ll see we’re actually moving around and cycling the puck.
This years strategy of slowing down in the offensive zone, and having players glued to set positions has been incredibly frustrating to watch.
I saw this one shift and it immediately made me happy with this trade. I was thinking, “Oh, this dude may actually make things happen on the power play”. What a concept
Someone should pitch the idea of letting Ellis go and letting Byram play/coach to save Terry P some cash
Byram made himself captain. Didn’t even ask anybody.
After being in Colorado, he’s probably more qualified to coach this team than our coaching staff.
as much as I wanna just blame the coaches, it’s just so bizarre. I didn’t even play hockey at that high of a level and I distinctly remember learning at like age 12 to keep moving yourself and the puck on the power play. it’s not like some complex thing. I highly doubt my peewee double A travel coach was smarter than a whole staff of NHL coaches. do the players just not care?
On the goal Bynam skates down, takes the open ice and shoots.
Wow!
Imagine that a player can attack with the puck and not just take a pot shot.
