the moves he made were ok considering what he had to work with ,there wasnt much out there in terms of D men .Hanafin would have just been a rental as he made it clear he wanted to sign with a USA team .I think he should have outbid Dallas for Tanev and gave up the 2023 1st. I am not sure why he is so in love with the 2024 1st . By the time that player is ready to help you ,Matthews and Marner will be nearing the end of their prime . Gotta go for in NOW while you have the best goal scorer of this generation in his prime

Of course Treliving has to say he believes in this in this team. What else is he going to say? But come on, I think we all know this Leafs team is not built for playoff success. We have enough individual star-power to win more games than lose in the regular season but we don't have "it". Leafs are not hungry enough, don't work hard enough, and have very bad habits that they clearly cannot stop. I was hoping that last season's playoff blowout to Florida and the departure of Dubas would shake the team up from GM to coach to the players but we're doing the same old thing again with the same old people and going nowhere. When is Shanahan going to be held accountable?

the moves he made were ok but not nearly enough to get by Bruins or Panthers in a 1st round matchup. The D is still full of holes and the bottom 6 forwards are not deep enough or good enough defensivley .They really miss O Reilly and SHenn from last year .
sadly i dont see us indulging in many new faces at all until JTs contract comes down a bit, Sammys contract will be gone too, I dont see TOR signing Mccabe again atleast not as much as hes making, all the big contracts hurt, so when JT signs back for less and the cap starting to go up, itll give Tre more breathing room to fix the mess the last GM(s) have left

Matthews and Marner need to get to the dirty areas in the playoffs. That is the only way the team will win. Literally every other foward will do that, but those two guys dictate how successful the team will be. therefore, they need to get dirty. Get physical. Its the only way

All the contenders added to already great rosters. The Leafs don't have the playoff stars for success. Tavares..Marner..Nylander… Matthews are all soft. You're not winning anything with this group and Shanahan plus Keefe running the show

The message is clear. This is the last dance. Either the core takes them on a run or they break up the band. Tre wasn't giving up a 1st, wasn't giving up Cowan or Minten, the cupboards were bare thanks to Dubas, you're tight against the cap so who are you moving out for someone that's available? St. Louis wasn't interested in trading etc. Tre did what he could.

I like that Tre didn’t overdo it. Let’s sign some UFA D (Tanev, Roy, Pesce?) this summer, keep Boosh and trade Lily for a pick. Now wasn’t the time to overhaul.

IMO the laffs are a worse team than last season–Matthews exceptional year will be the highlight–and maybe a Hart trophy as well but that's all folks !!!

Last year Florida did nothing at the trade deadline and Vegas added Quick and Barbashev. Not a lot really. Some of the teams that went big got bounced first or second round. The pressure is on the big boys to make something happen, no outside help at all.
