Getting tired of people using point production as a judging stick for a stay at home dman. We needed a tanev replacement. We got one.
There is Pinder once again displaying his complete lack of understanding of the game. You guys are getting increasingly difficult to listen to.
The point that Pinder was making is if you look at 100 profiles of guys who look and track exactly how this guy has looked and tracked in his draft , draft+1 and draft+2 years (defensive defensemen with no offensive upside) the chance that he becomes an NHL regular is in the 5-10% range. Stats aren’t everything and maybe the guy becomes the next Chris Tanev for the flames but when evaluating a trade you have to use current information to evaluate a player and this players current projection is depth career AHLr
Flames got fleeced. Period. Artem is a B prospect. He’s so low on the Dallas prospect list that he’s unranked in their top 4 prospects. Defensive d man with no offensive upside are a dime a dozen in the NHL and you can get these type of players on the waiver wire.
Since Dallas has a snowballs chance to make the Stanley cup final, because they have to get pass Colorado and Winnipeg. So flames can kiss that conditional 3rd bye bye. So flames got a 2nd (which is basically a 3rd rounder since Dallas is near the top of the standings) and a throwaway b prospect. Slow clap for Conroy.
Pinder is so unlikeable.
I honestly feel that Conroy is gonna get it done and bring an era of Flames hockey that we've been craving since 2004…
And I think he's got off to a pretty good start adding alot of picks and really good young prospects at a 1st year GM and he hasnf e en drafted yet…
All up until the Tanev trade…
I think we got fleeced on this one and could of gotten a more proven prospect if he waited…
BUT lets not forget (including me) that if Tanev never got drafted and turned out to be a complete stud, Grushnikov can pull very we off as well…and its not just conroy who likes the kid for what he is the scouts did too including dallas.

The dallas GM said it took him a couple days to say ok and let the kid go…
If there's a Tanev 2.0 out there it's Grush.

There is no pressure on this kid at all.. He is a defensive defenceman and Flames will work with him and I'm willing to bet he will work with them and can be a bottom pairing defenceman for us in the future.. Every team needs defensive defenceman
I think Calgary didn't get enough for their players Brzustewics is good but I feel Tanev,Hanifin,Markstrom,Lindholm they whoever else they make avaliable they could get a top prospect to go along with Zary.
