It was just the deadline for them to participate in the AHL postseason, they can be called back up.

For them to be eligible to play in the AHL playoffs they had to be on the roster by yesterday I believe. Could still be called back up

Calm down theyāll be back soon. This was a necessary administrative move so that theyāre eligible to play for Syracuse in the playoffs.

There are lots of rules and salary implications that we, the fans, do not know about. Sometimes these are salary cap moves to create more space or eligibility rules for AHL considerations. Donāt read much into it unless you see someone on waivers.

Was a multitude of reasons for this:
ā¢They needed to be sent down to be eligible for AHL playoffs
ā¢ RD Matt Dumba was acquired and it creates a bit of a logjam on right side for the big club with not much opportunity to get any game action unless there is another injury
ā¢RD Prospect Jack Thompson was traded and creates an opportunity for Crozier & Lilleberg to back down and take on more responsibility in Syracuse whether it be running the Power Play, leading the Penalty Kill, or gaining more familiarity as a pairing
I would look at it as this is only furthering their development in being more comfortable playing meaningful games in the spring if we need them or build upon their case to challenge for a spot on the roster next season
This certainly wasnāt a case of sending them down due to playing poorly or anything like that

I think they both need to season a bit more in the AHL. Crozier has been playing a really limited role as a 7D and could probably get more out of playing bigger minutes in Syracuse. Lilleberg has his moments but hasnāt been very good of late. With another experienced guy in the lineup in Dumba we donāt really need to rely on them as much and with Duclair added we can go back to playing 12-6

Itās a little more than AHL playoffs, had to send both down to become cap compliant
