I’ll take a Hughes/Makar comparison any day for Hutson

Quinn Hughes is having an absolutely DOMINANT season. If Hutson reaches this kind of ceiling in 4-5 years I will be ecstatic.

Quinn Hughes is a eh comparable to Hutson.
While their size is similar and IQ are definitely some of their forces, Hutson doesnt have that insane skating ability that Hughes has that really makes him an elite both sides of the ice

I hope that guy who was complaining about the lack of Hutson posts is happy now

Lane doesn’t have the elite skating Quinn has. He needs to upgrade his skating significantly if he wants to be a force in the NHL. Here’s hoping

my favourite hockey tradition is comparing players just on their size and not any other part of their game
Quinns success has no impact on Lane’s future

Patience is key with any prospect. Slaf is a key example of a player who has had to grow into the NHL. I hope the energy can be “rooting for him to hit his ceiling” rather than “he’s a bust” after one season.

This is a superficial comparison. Quinn Hughes could do things in his D-1 year that Hutson can’t do in his D+2 and most likely will never.
Hutson is nowhere near the level of Hughes’s skating, or even a Samuel Girard’s skating. They’re not the same kind of defensemen.
There’s no example in the NHL right now of the kind of defenseman Hutson is. People have to come to terms with that.

And this is how Habs prospects get eaten alive in this market and rarely develop to potential. Unrealistic expectations on a guy who hasn’t even played in the NHL.

The Hughes brothers are among the best skaters in the league. Comparisons to them do not take this into account.

Kind of depressing thinking we could’ve had Hughes or Tkatchuk.
