Since none of the Red Wings are playing like “dogs,” lately, it was interesting to listen to Brian’s well-rounded story streamed on WWJ radio about Raddog, the robotic police dog.
I think you said it right: we pride ourselves on our depth that we have so let's use it. I think one of Yzerman's biggest mistakes maybe in his entire career was basically doing nothing this deadline, We had issues that everyone wanted solve: goaltending and defense. Lyon wasn't going to be amazing forever, especially when he's playing every night. Husso gets hurt basically every other game he comes back, and Reimer is Reimer. We needed another reliable goalie but we never got one. Then our defense has arguably been one of the main reasons we've lost games. Like Lyon, Seider and Walman can't do everything.

I think we are going to miss the playoffs because not much was done at the deadline. We know top 4 d is an issue. And nothing was done about it.
This is the best opportunity for wings to re-establish winning culture and get into the playoffs but we are blowing it
Next season Buffalo and Ottawa will be back. Montreal is getting better. Boston is likely to get Lindholm to address their center situation. Florida is Florida. And both Toronto and Tampa will be good. If we don’t make the playoffs this season, I don’t know how we can make it next season without making some big moves .
Even if the offense was firing on all cylinders, these games would’ve looked like lacrosse scores. we’ve been out scored 27 to 8 this entire month.
Lalonde has not been a good coach and has been propped up on just extremely lucky offense. Every analytic pointed to overperformance and it's extremely obvious he has zero control over the room. This exact same thing happened in December, and it's happening again in March. Happened last year as well.
Proves the Wings really blew it again this year. Goaltending again a serious issue, very poor defensive play. It's over. No playoffs again. Geez maybe Dylin Larkin can find a way to be there in crunch time.
Would Gerard Gallant be a good option right now?
Goalies can only face so many shots and eventually become shell-shocked. High danger opportunities. It is a shame that the team leaves who ever is in the net face 40 shots a night until the goalie loses confodence. 😓
It is strange that a team this experienced just crumbles like this. Vets should be able to handle this better.
Don't blame Lyon. He has had to let in too many goals even when playing great and has had to play too many games for too long. We have seen this happen now for the third straight season. Yzerman hasn't been able to fix goog back up goaltending.
Defence has been insufficient the entire season. And during this horrible stretch our arguably third and fourth best d plays in GR. It's not ok!
Still, with this experienced squad this shouldn't happen.
After watching both games…this is dead serious. The griffins are better than the wings at the moment. Better cycling, defensive structure, goaltending, forechecking effort, tenacity. Everything, might still be 0-6 if they played these last 6 nhl games for the wings but I doubt they would’ve been blowouts.

you'all can look at my history. i am the only one who has said since last year lalonde is trash and chariot and petry are garbage defensemen. i still trust yzerman…but the coach, the lack of any nhl caliber goaltender and the horrible d are all on him. they are all his signings and choice.
I’m completely with you too! I personally think it’s the coach more than anything now. He is all ho-hum after each loss. He even said it before the game…he said “This is not a must win, this a must play well game”. What an idiot! Every game should be a win mentality, not a play well mentality only. He is thinking already that winning is not that important. I want a fire Lalonde movement, like the Lions had with “Fire Millen” movement/protest!!! 😤😡🤬

Guess making the playoffs isn't a Priority
Even with great goaltending, the only game Detroit would have won is against Vegas. I do think Lalonde has just run the wheels off Lyon, who has never once had a workload like this ever in his whole career and he's 31 (or maybe 32 now) years old. I totally put the blame on coaching and the team, not on the goalies. Yeah, Lyon's not giving them great saves anymore, but he's bailed them out so many times and he needs the team to do the same for him on occasion, and the truth is we're not scoring goals. When you get shut out 4-0 twice, that's not the goalie's fault. When the defense collapses, you lose 7-3. Maybe with better goaltending, Detroit escapes this one losing 5-3.
Lyon is all we have right now. This streak will break. The only question is when.
I like Lalonde, he seems intelligent and a good communicator , but a long slide like this is on him. He knows what he has as a team with their only genuine superstar out with an injury. He should have an alternative game plan ready in times like this.
Red Wings were always good luck for me. Now they mirror my life as I dont want life to be. I believe we both need to correct our paths to have a more successful outcome. LGRW. ONE LAST TIME FOR THIS SEASON.
My guess is the coaches don't think the biggest issue is the dmen.The forwards give no resistance in the neutral zone, letting the opposition just come full speed at the dmen, they continually lose their coverage, they cheat for offense leaving the dmen with no easy outlet plays, they have so many ugly turn overs putting the dmen in bad positions. The D Core has its issues for sure, but Im not sure a rookie dman is going to help. When Lalonde addressed Walman being scratched, he said they didn't have enough forwards to hold them accountable for their play, but they could do it with the Dmen. I think they need to call up some forwards.
This collapse has been depressing to say the least. Was a very dark and gloomy ride into work this morning. This is rough.

You can bring Cossa up for experience for later.. Cossa doen't lack confidence. This would let him know how close he is to making the Wings permanently and what he needs to work. He might get hot and keep him playing until he cools off.
Golden Nights had the same Record as the Redwings on trade Deadline and they made many moves to get into the playoffs and they lost their Captain.
Their structure has completely disappeared. This is very similar to the December stretch, except they are playing even worse. I can only hope Lalonde hands them some tough practices.
What an embarrassing game. Petry and Chairot were -5 and I turned the game off before the third.
Couldn't even watch the whole game, something is wrong with this team, they played uninspired and appear to have given up half way through the game. When players are standing in front of the goalie just reaching for the puck but not engaging physically you got a big problem. It was so bad at one point walman cross checked seider because he must've thought it was a sabre bumping him, WTF is going on lalonde?
I wish steve would walk down into that dressing riom and lose his shit on the guys. After he chose not to sell at the deadline because he believed in this group and they follow that up with showing no effort or care.
Also i dont give a fuck about his locker room presence, get perron off this team. Make him an assistant coach if you need him in the room that badly. We need youth. Should have traded kane. Petry needs to go.
I mean yzerman made a statement with not making any moves at the trade deadline. This team has needed blue line help since the beginning of the season. We all knew this was coming. My only issue is when are we going to hold lalonde accountable. These last 5 games have been embarrassing to say the least.

I was hoping the Wings were hoping to be sellers at the deadline, but when i posted that, i got slammed. Imagine what they would have gotten for Kane because its unlikely he will sign with the Wings.
