  1. There's a difference between having respect for time and playing mind games. If you want the guys to know the meeting time and that they should be early, that's one thing. But to say that the meeting is at 10, but really mean that it starts at 9:45 is just BS mind games.

  2. Old school? WTF. You make sound like an outdated practice from the stone age. It's discipline, and dedication that majes a difference. I am not sure l agree with ring early and if not early you are late.
I used to Locke the door once a meeting starts so no Kate people are allowed in. That got everybody's attention quick.

  3. You can tell tortorella is crazy just by looking at is eye you can feel the intensityšŸ˜‚

  4. In a lot of jobs you have meetings back to back to back. There is no ā€œearlyā€. Just late and less late.

Having enough free time before a meeting to be early like this makes these guys seem a bit pampered.

  5. Torts is a martinet, He will never be confused with Scotty Bowman or Glen Sather. He wears on people. Guaranteed this clown will have a short shelf life in Philly.

  6. My sons drill sergeant said if your 14 minutes early your a minute late . Words to live by . Be on time . Your being paid well to play a game

  7. People like discipline. It gives structure. Builds character. Too much of it could be negative however

  8. It's called discipline. This occurs because you have to show up 10-15 early to settle in, shoot the s**t , then get serious. Welcome to the real world.

  9. Served in the military for 15 years(so far) and we have a saying. "If you aren't 5 minutes early, you're 5 minutes late". It's actually something I've turned into my civilian life and it blows my fucking mind how many people are late every single day.

  10. Torts is the kind of coach that a working man in the real world would respect and appreciate. You know where you stand with him. Put in an honest effort and work hard and you will not have a problem with Torts. These spoiled millionaire players are the ones who are babies and donā€™t like a straight shooter like Torts.

  11. I would hate to play for Torts, but love the results he gets.Best sounds bites at after game pressers, absolutely pure venom what his team loses.šŸ˜‚

  12. I'm a fulltime firefighter and we start our 24 hour shifts at 7am. If you show up at 7am you will be talked to and if it continues you will be fired. Starting at 7am means you have checked your SCBA, gear is checked and on the truck, meet with your captain and relieve the person from the day before so you are ready to respond to an emergency before 7am. Rarely is anyone ever not have all that done by 06:45!!!!!!

  13. Being early to prepare and focus is a sign of mental discipline. Being on time is a sign of respect to your teammates. Bringing donuts is an act of love.

  14. I used to be late all the time, then I grew up and realized how disrespectful it is. I still have a couple friends who think their time is more important than yours and will make you wait however long. I don't wait for them anymore.

  15. Years ago I called a meeting and some people were late, so I locked the door so they won't come in. People thought I was an a hole. No.. On time or don't waste my time. Emails came in the next day complaining. I just ignored them.
    Old fashioned my ars.

  16. Torts sounds like my late grandfather who lived through the depression and served in the Navy during WW2. You feared him when you were a kid but now he is the one you respect and miss the most.

  17. I do t think there is anything wrong with that mantra. I talk to my kids about that all the time. If you are on time, you are late. If your 10 mins early you are on time. Sets them up for life success.

  18. From years of playing hockey. I hate being late. I'm always early to wherever I'm going. I hated dressing quick to play and I hated getting yelled at by the coach. So it taught me to be on time or early. It served me well when I was still working, i can't work now because I have cancer. But I'm always early for my doctors appointments now.

  19. My Dads rule as well. My dad always told me and showed me to respect the work place and the work place will respect you. Iā€™m 42 now and it works
