HIGHLIGHTS: Gavin Sheets’ 2-HR Day Secures Win Over Royals (2.29.24)



The Chicago White Sox faced the Kansas City Royals in Split Squad action at Camelback Ranch.

Jake Woodford took the bump at home, going 2.0 IP with 1 H and 2 K. Tanner Banks, Jordan Leasure, Fraser Ellard, Alex Speas, Bailey Horn and Chase Solesky all tossed strong innings of relief to secure the win.

Gavin Sheets got the White Sox on the board in the 4th with his 1st home run of the game, a solo shot to right field.

In the 5th inning, Andrew Benintendi singled on a line drive to left fielder Drew Waters, scoring Braden Shewmake. In the same inning, Rafael Ortega drove home Lenyn Sosa on a sacrifice fly to right fielder Nelson Velázquez to extend the White Sox lead to 3-0.

Gavin continued to bring the offense with a home run in the 6th inning, his second of the day!

In the bottom of the 8th, Oscar Colás reached base on a fielding error while Yoelqui Céspedes scored. José Rodríguez followed by driving in Oscar Colás.

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Kansas City Royals, 6-1, at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, AZ.
