  1. Specialization is a problem. There is a reason why guys like Gretzky and Steve Nash were special. They played lots of sports, and could bring those experiences to the rink to inform their play.

  2. cool to see south asian representation in the NHL. i'm a white guy but you can see how much passion there is for the sport in that community. love that they got a new guy they can champion in arshdeep.

  3. Hockey players of colour, sadly, are still targets of racism and discrimination when playing this great game. I was at a hockey tournament in recent weeks and heard racial slurs being directed at a team that is predominately composed of players of colour (Asian, south Asian, Black). I cannot imagine how difficult it was for players like Robin Bawa and Arshdeep Bains to rise through the ranks when racism was even more rampant than it is now, and they were likely the only non-white player on the ice. Hockey is a great game and should be enjoyed by all – thanks to Robin Bawa and Arshdeep Bains working as trailblazers.

  4. It’s great seeing more South Asians playing. Growing up in the New Jersey, I was the only brown face on the ice and playing after school street hockey. It means a lot when I saw Kharia on the ice with McDavid and now Arshdeep making his debut with the Canucks
