  1. Tony Galagher is a dinosaur and I'm glad he left media. I remember he got Butt-hurt when Canucks' goalie coach Rollie Melanson didn't usually talk to media (as is the practice for most goalie coaches), and Tony wrote an article bashing him indicating that Rollie thinks it's a 'badge of honour' not to talk to media. No Tony, he may have other reasons he doesnt talk to media, like perhaps it's not the conventional thing to do for goalie coaches.

  2. I remember when Tony was one of the most controversial guys in Vancouver sports – up there with Neil MacRae. It was the mid 90s and the Canucks were on the way down after the 94 Finals and he'd criticize some of the stupid moves management and ownership were making and fans would call into CKNW Radio, most of them not happy with it. I was happy that there were people willing to call out the people dismantling the team I'd been a huge fan of since 1990.

  3. Wonderful professional who had the courage to say what was really going on throughout his career, despite incurring the wrath of radio, tv, and management who all wanted it to be totally positive. Had the pleasure of working with Tony in the 80's and most of the 90's. You're a class act sir! See how he feels for the soldiers who've been shafted by Toronto management in Vancouver radio. Respect for all.

  4. Always a pleasure to hear from the Professor Emeritus of Vancouver sports media. To my recollection, the only member of the mainstream media to ever possess the stones to utter the 'C' word in reference to the often byzantine nature of NHL disciplinary distributive authority.
Because at the end of the day kids, there is obviously, far too many floating variables to predict the outcome of the yearly campaign. But there is one thing that does have an adequate sample size to contribute to the meta data, and that repeated fact is : no Canadian team will win the Stanley Cup. All the best gentlemen.
