After a nice bounce-back start against the Sharks, Sam Ersson was looking to steady himself against the star-studded Leafs but instead looked much more like the goalie who was pulled against Tampa, and his results were similar. Felix Sandstrom took over in the 2nd period and the Flyers steadied themselves, but then the wheels fell off in the 3rd.

Goalies don't like players always trying to block shots when it's an easy save. They screen and deflect it.
Toronto is a very good team. Flyers are not. Obviously.
Drysdale always hurt is worrisome. Can’t count on him.

Do we bring back ginning and see if it jumps the d core energy? Staal needs a break, and even though he was not the best on the underlying numbers it may give a jolt we need during this stretch?
As frustrating as it is, maybe Ersson’s high ceiling low basement approach this year is a better fit for this gauntlet than just having a league average consistent vet goalie. With a guy that plays okay and gives up 2.5-3 goals a game, they’d likely go 0-7 or maybe 1-6. If Ersson gives them a few shutouts or 1-goal games, they could escape close to .500
Sam wasn't good but he's also the reason the flyers are in a race. Almost every win this season he saved them in the first period
This is not a playoff team. I predicted they would be a bubble team in August, somewhere between 8-10 in rhe east. I did not anticipate the great play of Sean Walker, and orher flyers playing hard to make to tge trade rumors go away. Now that the deadline has passed, and Walker is traded, the Flyers are on pace to get a top 8 pick.
