If I had a nickel for every time Calgary had an obvious offside go uncalled tonight, I’d have four nickels. Which isn’t much, but it’s still weird.

I wasn’t even paying that close attention tonight as I was doing work/making dinner, but I started noticing a trend with uncalled offsides tonight. It’s absolutely not the reason why the Habs lost, I’m not saying that at all. It’s just weird. I noticed them all in real time during play, went back to check later.

    1. I can understand, as the Flames player may have obstructed the linesman’s view.
    2. Not a great screengrab, because it’s a replay from afar. The real time play was obstructed from our camera by a player (but the linesman had a clear view). This was the one the broadcast crew called out, hence the replay.
    3. Yeah, pretty obvious from where the linesman is standing.
    4. I mean, come on!

Again, this had nothing to do with the final result tonight, but I do remember a game early this season where they were playing maybe the Bruins (?) where Boston had an offside you could see from the space station go uncalled and they hemmed the Habs in their zone for a long while, then the puck came out for a second, Boston went right back in and scored. Not reviewable because they touched up correctly before the goal, but it was a direct result of the uncalled infraction. I feel like the officials are letting this stuff go because of the reviews now, but then the goals that get called back are like 1 cm offside which had nothing to do with the play while egregious offsides that go uncalled affect the game more. But oh well, everyone’s imperfect. Just happened to stand out to me tonight.
