Relying on Sorokin to steal games is obviously not ideal, but seriously, when was the last game he stole for us? Last season it felt like it was every third game he played
I think it’s a fair criticism. He did keep this team afloat for most of the season, battling high chance opportunity after opportunity, which is in part what kept Lane around for so long. He’s come back down to earth of late and unfortunately it’s at a time where every loss is a killer.
At this point we live and die by his play. Either he gets hot and we make a run or remains mediocre and we fall short.
He’s faced the most shots and made the most saves in the league this season… His 5v5 SV% is .924, shorthanded it’s .822… The team in front of him can’t play defense
He’s been subpar. We better hope it’s just this season.
This is how Roy starts losing the team. Blaming one of the best players on the team. That is his character. I always hated this hire. That’s what he did towards the end in Colorado and that’s why he never got another gig in the NHL as coach. Remember the only coach that worked on LI was Trotz. With this same team he was able to take them 2 years straight to the conference finals. Owners should have fired Lou and make Trotz as GM like he is in Nashville now.
Give the guy some games off. He’s been busy this season
Hes given up on the team! Unsurprisingly, since everyone else on the team has as well. I bet you dollars to donuts he demands a trade this off-season and he SHOULD! another wasted hof career for this franchise!
I agree he’s not playing to the best of his abilities. In his defense our defense has been a hot mess all year.
Hopefully this season is a one off. But expecting him to steal games for us is not a solid strategy moving forward
He is certainly not the reason we are losing games but he is also not winning them for us like he did last season. But every goalie has good and bad years, he will come back.
It’s got to be pretty tough to hear one of the greatest goalies ever criticize your play as your coach. Still, we need Sorokin to play at his best more often.
Last year, what did we all say? If it wasn’t for Sorokin we wouldn’t be a playoff team.
This year, he simply doesn’t stand on his head, he plays like an average goalie and we struggle. He bailed us out on a consistent basis – when he doesn’t do that (which he cannot be expected to) our flaws create the results.
Of all the players to criticize why Sorokin? Where is the criticism of Lee, Mayfield, Pelech, Romanov? How about the penalty killing, defensive structure? Oh yeah. Go ahead and criticize the goalie who is the main reason we have the possibility of making the playoffs. Get the fuck out of here!
